Illegal immigration is LITERALLY killing this country and its citizenry! (UPDATES)

"Referring to borders between states, ABC News Chief Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser said a mouthful when he pointed out that “Viruses don't tend to respect borders.” The problem for America is that if international borders are not respected, viruses native to other countries migrate as well, and to date are being scattered around the nation, rather than deported." ~ Jeannie DeAngelis
If the politicos and pundits can quiet down for just a moment, and someone please shut Jeb Bush up (no, amnesty won't win back the Senate for the GOP, dummy), maybe we can have an adult moment to discuss the detrimental affects that unchecked mass immigration, particularly of the illegal persuasion, is having on this country.

Just as most conservatives warned, the majority of illegals that have crossed the border, but were released by the Obama administration into the interior of the country FAILED to report back to federal agents...
AP: Tens of thousands of young families caught crossing the border illegally earlier this year subsequently failed to meet with federal immigration agents, as they were instructed, the Homeland Security Department has acknowledged privately.

An official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed that about 70 percent of immigrant families the Obama administration had released into the U.S. never showed up weeks later for follow up appointments.

The ICE official made the disclosure in a confidential meeting at its Washington headquarters with immigration advocates participating in a federal working group on detention and enforcement policies. The Associated Press obtained an audio recording of Wednesday's meeting and separately interviewed participants.
Yes, that would be the same AP who openly mocked Americans for suggesting illegals wouldn't report back. Naiveté or subversive advocacy? Likely the latter.

But there's a deadlier side to the rampant illegality that the Obama administration and the media advocates allow to plague our nation. And plague is the appropriate word to use...
JoeForAmerica: One of the concerns many rational, thinking people have expressed in connection with the runaway invasion of our border by illegal immigrants is for the spread of unusual, potentially deadly diseases.

With the Obama Administration busing and flying inadequately screened illegal aliens to unsuspecting communities all around the United States, it’s only a matter of time before a rash of novel illnesses sweeps the country, we warned.

No, no, it will never happen, the White House and liberals assured us, calling those who raised legitimate questions fear-mongers or worse.

Now there’s a “mystery” virus spreading across the country rapidly. The enterovirus D68 has been affecting mostly children. The symptoms don’t sound much different from a cold, but dozens of children in multiple states have been made sick enough to require hospitalization.

Furthermore, Enterovirus D68 may be the cause of polio-like illnesses cropping up in children...
LegalInsurrection: An awful trait of pathogens is that the more rapidly they spread, the nastier their health effects can become. It appears Enterovirus 68 may be following this pattern. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is checking into reports that limb weakness and paralysis in nine children may be related to the far-reaching outbreak of the respiratory disease.
'The CDC released a statement today saying nine children in Denver had reported a neurologic illness that led to some limb weakness or paralyzation. All of the children had reported having a kind of respiratory virus before showing symptoms of limb weakness.

Six of the eight children tested were found to be positive for a rhinovirus or enterovirus and four of those cases were found to be the Enterovirus 68. The other two cases were still pending.'
Earlier this year, as many as 25 California children were reported to be suffering from a mysterious, polio-like virus capable of paralyzing limbs.

Sadly, it appears that the virus may have taken the life of a 4-year old.
'A New Jersey pre-schooler is dead after suffering an unidentified illness, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will test to see if the now-infamous enterovirus D68might have been the cause.'
With the Obama administration's open border policy and lack of adequate health screening, as our ancestor's received upon immigrating to this country, these illegal children have been shuffled to undisclosed destinations throughout the interior with God knows what. But I guess it’s more important to appease the minority of advocates than to have a overall healthy population? And when it is discovered for certain that all of this is another result of illegal immigration, will the media consider this an accident of the regime or a deliberate, premeditated action? And that might lead to a broader question: Is Obama trying to get us killed?
AmericanThinker: As thousands of disease-riddled criminals storm across our borders, is it really time to mince words? President Obama appears to have an Agenda for America that stinks worse than a Border Patrol bus depot crammed with urine-drenched illegals. Is the man trying to protect and defend us, or does he want us to kick the bucket, run down the curtain, and join the choir invisible?

On January 29, 2014, the Department of Homeland Security advertised for a vendor to escort 65,000 “unaccompanied alien children,” indicating that they not only knew the alien invasion was coming, they planned it.

Now the feds are spreading these disease vectors from sea to shining sea, stuffed full of HIV, scabies, TB, swine flu, MRSA staph infections, syphilis, and other communicable infestations. “One person can infect a thousand people, and then that thousand can infect thousands more. There is an exponential increase," warns public health expert...

Already, Border Patrol agents are getting sick from these contacts; soon these kids will start showing up in your public school. If you found it annoying when little Jake caught that cold that was going around, wait till he comes home with swine flu. ...

It’s difficult to keep count, but Obama’s various maneuvers seem to heighten the probability that we’ll be shot, stabbed, run over, bombed, gassed, overdosed, beheaded, starved, strangled, sickened, and generally hounded to death.
From news Friday, apparently the regime's not done spreading disease. They're now affecting and infecting military recruitment with illegal enlistment. Congress? No matter how many fiery hoops jumped through, the executive branch cannot unilaterally change immigration LAW! Grow a pair and hold this White House accountable, Capitol Hill! If for nothing else, for the health of your country's sake!

Please, wake up, America.

ADDENDUM: Obama's bringing more illegals to our shores (notice 'illegal' isn't mentioned once in this report...sap media)...
DallasNews: The Obama administration is initiating a program to give refugee status to some young people from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador in response to the influx of unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Under the program, immigrants from those countries who are lawfully in the United States will be able to request that child relatives still in those three countries be resettled in the United States as refugees. The program would establish in-country processing to screen the young people to determine if they qualify to join relatives in the U.S.
As for health screenings, don't count on it. Luckily it's limited to 4000 refugee slots, but still a misuse of the terms and conditions...and risk. Politics over health, though (same experience with Obamacare).

UPDATES: Enterovirus D68 has been found in 4 recently deceased patients...
CNN: Samples collected from four patients who recently died have tested positive for enterovirus D68, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It is unclear what role the virus played in their deaths. In fact, it's possible that enterovirus had nothing to do with them. The virus is very common, especially in the late summer and early fall, with the CDC estimating 10 million to 15 million infections each year in the United States.

Yet the deaths do raise an alarm because this year has been worse than some other years, since enterovirus D68 has been sending more children than usual to the hospital with severe respiratory illnesses. It seems to be most affecting children with a history of asthma or breathing problems.

As of Wednesday, the CDC had confirmed 500 people in 42 states have respiratory illnesses caused by enterovirus D68.
...including a 10-year-old girl...

GatewayPundit: A child with a staph infection and Enterovirus D68 has died in Rhode Island, the state’s health department announced today. The child passed away last week.

It may not have been the first death linked to Enterovirus D68…
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also has detected enterovirus D68 in samples from patients who died recently in other states.

There's no white washing this. We're reminded that this DEADLY enterovirus sweeping across the U.S. has knowingly afflicted Central America before and is plausibly the source with illegals pouring across our unsecured border...
IBD: All of this raises the possibility that in throwing open our border for political purposes, the U.S. is exposing itself to a host of nasty diseases and epidemics. ...

It's plain what's bringing up this great wave of diseases: immigration politics.

President Obama is so obsessed with winning Latino votes for Democrats by neglecting border laws that he's unwittingly opened the U.S. up to a variety of third-world diseases. He's released tens of thousands of medically unscreened illegal immigrants into the U.S., supposedly to prepare for their immigration hearings, which 70% never show up for.

The epidemics are small now, but the risk is rising. And with a new wave of illegals in the pipeline, where's the will to stop this?
Continuing with GatewayPundit...
Until recently the occurrence of EV-D68 was rare in the United States. Between 1970 and 2005 only 26 clinical isolates of EV-D68 were reported in the USA. Over the years, clusters have been reported in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and various countries.

Hundreds of children in Missouri and several other states have already been hospitalized because of Enterovirus EV-D68.

ABC News Chief Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser recently pointed out that “Viruses don’t tend to respect borders.”

Undocumented aliens are bringing diseases across the border into America. The Obama administration has relocated illegal immigrant children to all 50 states. Expect more outbreaks as the school year begins.
Where's the will to not only stop this but to protect the citizenry? Apparently not in Washington, D.C.

Obama blames intelligence officials for the rise of ISIS

"If the administration was suprised by ISIS and the response of the Iraqi army, it was because the president and his closest advisors weren't paying attention, or refused to believe what they were hearing. This intel came down to Obama shortly after he claimed that ISIS was al-Qaeda's "JV." Nothing is ever his fault." ~ Rick Moran
As has unfortunately become custom, this imperial president shifts blame to anyone but himself, especially when it's so blatantly obvious that this falls on him...
AmericanThinker: Obama the Blamethrower strikes again This time our president says that American intelligence is at fault for underestimating the threat of ISIS. It is never his fault-never ever. As Ronald Reagan would say, there he goes again.

Barack Obama, in an interview aired on 60 Minutes (one of his favorite shows because it fawns on him and, in the words of Steve Kroft, one of its talking heads, won’t ask him tough questions) casts blame on intelligence officials for the rise of ISIS
'President Barack Obama said that U.S. intelligence officials "underestimated what had been taking place in Syria," and that several years of political chaos in the country had created an environment for Islamic State to thrive in Syria and Iraq.'
Oddly, when the intelligence officials gave George W. Bush bad information about Iraq’s WMD program there was no attempt by Bush to shift blame onto long-serving career officials. It was the same intelligence that led the majority of US Democratic Senators (including then-Senators Hillary Clinton and John Kerry) to vote to give President Bush authority to launch military operations. Of course, when things went south they tried to revise history and whitewash their own responsibility by claiming that Bush “lied” and people died.

But, as is customary for Obama, he lays off blame for his failures on others who are in no position to object since they serve at his beck and call. Who would take on the president of the United States who has shown he has no problem using the full force of the powers -- including illegitimate ones -- that he has to make life miserable for Americans who earn his ire (the IRS is just one agency he can use; so is the Department of Justice, EPA, and Homeland Security, for starters)?
Don't we know it! But beyond the blame shifting, Eli Lake makes it clear that Obama just flat out lied...I know, shocker!
DailyBeast: Nearly eight months ago, some of President Obama’s senior intelligence officials were already warning that ISIS was on the move. In the beginning of 2014, ISIS fighters had defeated Iraqi forces in Fallujah, leading much of the U.S. intelligence community to assess they would try to take more of Iraq.

But in an interview that aired Sunday evening, the president told 60 Minutes that the rise of the group now proclaiming itself a caliphate in territory between Syria and Iraq caught the U.S. intelligence community off guard. Obama specifically blamed James Clapper, the current director of national intelligence: “Our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that, I think, they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,” he said.

Reached by The Daily Beast after Obama’s interview aired, one former senior Pentagon official who worked closely on the threat posed by Sunni jihadists in Syria and Iraq was flabbergasted. “Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bullshitting,” the former official said.
I'm pretty sure most of us know that answer...and he's FULL of it!

Breitbart: A new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) report reveals that President Barack Obama has attended only 42.1% of his daily intelligence briefings (known officially as the Presidential Daily Brief, or PDB) in the 2,079 days of his presidency through September 29, 2014.

The GAI report also included a breakdown of Obama’s PDB attendance record between terms; he attended 42.4% of his PDBs in his first term and 41.3% in his second.

The GAI’s alarming findings come on the heels of Obama’s 60 Minutes comments on Sunday, wherein the president laid the blame for the Islamic State’s (ISIS) rapid rise squarely at the feet of his Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

Workplace violence? Try CALL TO ARMS! (UPDATES)

Mainstream media is quick to claim workplace violence, but if you don't think this kind of rhetoric and fanaticism...
Foreign fighters from all over the world have left their home countries to join the ranks of the Islamic State, and the militant group’s lightning advance across Iraq and Syria this summer has helped to boost recruitment. VICE founder Shane Smith spoke with a man thought to be 21-year-old Somali-Canadian Abu Usamah Somali, who has been in Iraq since July and is reportedly fighting with the Islamic State.

...can influence and produce this kind of barbarism here at home...

FoxNation: A fired employee who had been trying to convert co-workers to Islam stabbed two female colleagues - beheading one of them - before an off-duty officer shot him, police have said.

Alton Alexander Nolen, 30, was fired from Vaughan Foods, a food distribution center in Moore, Oklahoma on Thursday before returning to his car and smashing it into another vehicle.

He then climbed out and entered the building, attacking the first two people he encountered with a knife, Moore Police Sergeant Jeremy Lewis said.

After beheading Colleen Hufford, 54, and stabbing Traci Johnson, 43, multiple times, Nolen was shot by off-duty officer Mark Vaughan, who was working at the business.

On Friday, Lewis said that Nolen had been trying to convert co-workers to Islam and that local police had contacted the FBI to help investigate the man's background, KFOR reported.

Co-workers said Nolen himself had only just converted to Islam, according to News9. It is not yet known if his beliefs played a role in the attack.
...you're fooling yourself.

Workplace violence? No, try CALL TO ARMS!

But don't expect President Obama or his soon-to-be-former Attorney General Holder to say much of anything about this...it doesn't involve a Harvard professor, anyone that Obama might say 'could be my son,' a call to a gay basketball player, the death of an African revolutionary, or Ferguson. You can connect the dots.

Wake up, America.

Breitbart: Breitbart News was able to secure through direct URLs the past two Friday Khutbahs (sermons) preached at the ISGOC (Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City), which are believed to have been deleted off of the Mosque’s website shortly after Islamic radical Alton Nolen beheaded an innocent woman at his workplace.

Breitbart News has found evidence of inextricable bonds between the Oklahoma City Mosque and the group CAIR (Council On American-Islamic Relations). During his September 19, 2014 sermon, Imam Imad Enchassi referred to CAIR Oklahoma City Executive Director Adam Soltani as someone who “doesn’t do anything without consulting me.”

After Alton Nolen’s beheading of an innocent woman, an unidentified man addressing the congregation said that “CAIR is handling this,” while showing no remorse and making no mention of the victim of the brutal murder.

Bill Whittle sprinkles some of his brilliance on us as he explains Loch Ness Socialism...
"The progressive utopia is the Loch Ness Monster of politics. It's a giant air-breathing creature that never surfaces for air. Progressive claim to love it because of their morally advanced love of the poor, but the fact is, the reason they love wealth redistribution to achieve income equality is because it's other people's wealth being redistributed to them. It's not morality; it's laziness, and it's envy, and it's stealing. In history, the actual photographs show, that time and time again, those people will murder those who create wealth and steal it before, you know, go out and create some of their own."

Eric Holder is resigning...

...now if we could just prosecute this crooked bastard for multiple counts of legitimate corruption throughout his unelected term with Obama!
NYTimes: Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is resigning, the Justice Department said Thursday, but plans to remain in office until a successor is confirmed.

Mr. Holder, the 82nd attorney general and the first African-American to serve in that position, had previously said he planned to leave office by the end of this year.

Particularly in President Obama’s second term, Mr. Holder has been the most prominent liberal voice of the administration...
Got that right! An all-around hyper-partisan riling up anything and everything imaginable, particularly in the race-baiting department, to provide political cover and convenient distractions for Dear Leader.

Among the first charges that Holder should be held accountable for is the Fast & Furious gunrunning scandal, of which he was just denied another delay request in the release of documents. He assuredly wants to be gone when that goes down! (H/t: HotAir)
TownHall: "The government’s arguments for even more time are unconvincing," Bates said in his ruling. "[S]eventy-five days—plus another twenty-one, based in part on Judiciary Watch’s consent—is enough time for the government to prepare the index that this Court has ordered, given that this matter has been pending for over two years. The Court will therefore extend the Department’s Vaughn index submission deadline to October 22, 2014—and no further."

"The government argues that it must devote significant numbers of attorneys to this matter if it hopes to comply with the current Vaughn index deadline ... But the Department has known about its Vaughn index obligations since July 18, 2014 ... At best, it means the Department has been slow to react to this Court’s previous Order. At worst, it means the Department has ignored that Order until now," he added.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg in THE most corrupt Attorney General in modern American history's grab bag (e.g., New Black Panther intimidation, Fort Hood, opposition to Voter ID laws, Arizona immigration law, AP wiretap surveillance, targeting FoxNews, contempt of Congress, etc., etc., etc.).

But it won't be easy to nail this guy down, because remember, he knows nothing...

Fence-jumping double standards: more 'fencing' for the White House, but little for our U.S. border? (UPDATE)

Funny how rational and proactive they become when it comes to their own security...

Everyone has heard by now about the fence-jumping incidents this past weekend. As a result, the Secret Service has erected a secondary barrier...
CBSNews: Besieged by fresh scrutiny after an armed man managed to scale the White House fence, sprint across the lawn and actually enter the doors of the North Portico before being apprehended, the Secret Service late Monday night erected a second fence line across the first family's Pennsylvania Avenue residence.

Just several feet high, the provisional cordon creates a security zone about 12 feet from the actual finial-topped fence. Designed to create a more effective level of obstruction for tourists and would-be intruders, the added barrier is an alternative to completely banning foot traffic in areas near the White House perimeter.
...and may expand the no-walking zone around the White House...
WaPo: After an unprecedented security breach Friday night at the White House, the U.S. Secret Service is weighing a series of measures that would move tourists and D.C. residents farther away from the complex to reduce the chances of intruders piercing its security perimeter and endangering the president.

One proposal is to keep people off the sidewalks around the White House fence and create several yards of additional barrier around the compound’s perimeter. Another is to screen visitors as far as a block away from the entrance gates.

Fence-jumper: Another victim of 'psych crisis' at Fort Hood?

So, additional security atop existing security for our rulers, yet when it comes to OUR security, they're ordered not to enforce existing law? You'd have to be blind not to see the double standard...
ConservativeUnderground: Justifiably, a great deal of concern has been expressed by lawmakers and security experts over the incident. Media outlets across the country have posted stories about the incident using headlines such as this one from ABC News saying “Fence-Jumper Makes It Into the White House”. I’m just wondering if we changed that headline to read “Fence-Jumper Makes it Into America”, would it get a different reaction?

The first version of the headline reports that a man, apparently of Hispanic descent (no mention has been made of his citizenship or immigration status) who jumped the fence and illegally entered the White House, and the second version could be about a man of Hispanic descent who jumped the border fence and entered the country illegally. Why does a single incidence of a fence breach generate so much excitement and concern when it takes place at the White House when the same thing happens hundreds of times a day along our border and no one seems to be concerned? Why did the Secret Service arrest Omar Gonzalez and remove him from the White House when those who enter the country illegally are surrendering to the Border Patrol and being welcomed with open arms?

Absolutely, I understand the need to keep the President and his family safe from those who would cause them harm, but the double standard here is unmistakable.
At this point, the author also points out the double standard presented by Gun-Free Zones, when the President and his family are protected by armed Secret Service, yet the prohibition of arms in these supposed zones is supposed to ‘protect’ children’s’ schools?
I do not begrudge the President, any President, the security necessary to keep him and his family safe; in fact, I insist on it. I want our national leaders to be free to do their jobs without being exposed to danger from those who would do them harm. I want the same freedom for me and my family, and it would be really appreciated if the President would stop doing everything in his power to deny me that freedom. Stop inviting criminals, drug cartels and terrorists into the country illegally, and stop trying to deprive me of the guns I use to defend my home and my family.
Perhaps if we could ever reach the fantasy utopia dreamed up by the Left, there wouldn't be cause for concern (yeah, I know, it'd be laughable if we didn't understand the kind of authoritarianism that's already breeding). However, as those with reason realize, there might actually be cause for concern when you have a greater infusion of Mid East immigrants within a few short years than even from Central America. Of course, I'm speaking as if we were living in normal, honest, free-speaking times, which we're pretty far from these days, unfortunately...
Breitbart: Approximately 2.5 million immigrants from “predominantly Muslim countries" reside inside the U.S. right now, a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies found.

The four-page report, which details which countries and world regions from which immigrants in the U.S.—both legal and illegal—came to this country, found that since 2000 nearly a million more immigrants from such Muslim countries came to the U.S.

In 2000, there were 1,518,755 immigrants from Muslim countries in the U.S. In 2010, That number stood at 2,184,664, and in 2013 it stands at 2,480,407.

Between 2010 and 2013, there was actually a greater increase in the number of immigrants from the Middle East than from Central America.

Then to add insult to injury, we have a host of churches aiding and abetting the criminality of illegal immigration...subverting the rule of law, how Christian?
WashingtonTimes: A network of two dozen churches has promised to offer “physical sanctuary” to illegal immigrants facing deportation, saying they want to create a safe haven that federal officials won’t invade as a way of preventing the migrants from being kicked out of the country.

The movement is the latest effort by activists trying to stop as many deportations as possible after failing to win relief from President Obama, who earlier this month temporarily shelved his plans to expand his nondeportation policies, angering Hispanics and immigrant advocates.

Call me crazy, but ignoring not only the lawlessness on our southern border, but the entirety of an orderly immigration system, including the economics and assimilation or lack thereof involved, for any political purposes, whether masked behind church or state or political correctness, might validate the abundant need to fence off more than just the White House. But simply enforcing existing immigration law, keeping reasonable caps in mind, would be a positive step in the right direction.

UPDATE: Now, you know if they can deal with the Secret Service chief this quickly, they can do the same for our borders!
AP: Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned Wednesday, a day after bitingly critical questioning by Congress about a White House security breach. There had been increasing calls for her departure during the day.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said she offered her resignation and he accepted it.

Pierson will be replaced by Joseph Clancy, a former special agent in charge of the president's protective detail who retired in 2011. Pierson has been with the agency for 30 years.
30 years...coincidentally, about as long as our borders have been critically porous.

Yemen burns, while Obama plays Captain Planet and Boehner confesses to Behar

While Kerry diverts from Syria with more climate change propaganda, Obama follows suit. As Yemen burns...
Breitbart: Yemen's Houthi (Ansarullah) anti-government militias took control of many government buildings in Sanaa, Yemen's capital city, on Sunday, and then agreed to a United Nations sponsored peace agreement to end the fighting. However, some reports indicate that the fighting is continuing as before.

The Houthi militias are believed to be receiving weapons and training from Iran. Yemen is also the base of the Sunni jihadist al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and southern Yemen is attempting to secede from Yemen.

The concern is that sectarian (Shia versus Sunni) violence will accelerate in Yemen, affecting the entire region.

Breitbart: President Obama announced a series of executive actions to fight climate change on Tuesday, during a speech to the United Nations Climate Summit in New York City.

Obama ordered all federal agencies to begin factoring “climate resilience” into all of their international development programs and investments.

The action is expected to complement efforts by the federal government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to the White House.

Obama is also expected to release climate monitoring data used by the federal government to developing nations.

And what's our boneheaded Speaker doing during all of this? Partying in the Hamptons, and telling Joy Behar that he and Obama are 'best friends!'
Breitbart: House Speaker John Boehner put comedienne Joy Behar in a headlock this weekend while in the Hamptons campaigning for Republican Lee Zeldin, telling the liberal former co-host of The View, “I am Obama’s best friend."

Behar ran into Boehner in a restaurant--Almond Restaurant in East Hampton--and told the Speaker to “stop obstructing President Obama” as she “tackled” him, according to the New York Post. ...

Behar was there eating dinner with her husband Steve Janowitz, actor Ron Rifkin, and Rifkin’s wife Iva, and the Post’s Smith wrote that “she baited Boehner as he got up from his table to leave the restaurant.”

“I couldn’t resist having some fun. I jumped up and told him to stop obstructing President Obama,” Behar said. “I am sick of all this deadlock. Strangely, he replied, ‘I am Obama’s best friend.’
What a lib...and Behar too!

With such rudderless leadership on either side of the aisle, is there any wonder why America is receding both within and without?

700,000 Obamacare sign-ups already dropped their coverage

"Wait a minute, it ain't free?" cry citizens of the Welfare State.
TheDC: Obamacare administrator Marilyn Tavenner admitted that several months after the open enrollment period ended, the number of paying customers has dropped precipitously.

By August 15, over 700,000 of the administration’s initial “sign-ups” had dropped their Obamacare coverage, Tavenner said in testimony to the House Oversight Committee. The administration has been advertising 8 million sign-ups since the first enrollment period ended in April.

Upon questioning, Tavenner had no details about the reason for the sharp drop, but presumably a large number of the sign-ups failed to ever pay their premiums, as many experts had predicted.

Bombing ISIS in Syria is kinda different than buying into climate change, Sec. Kerry

So, the US is strategically bombing Syria (or likely empty buildings in that country) to degrade ISIS...
Vox: Shortly before dawn local time on Tuesday, the US began launching air strikes in Syria against the jihadist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as part of President Obama's effort to "degrade and defeat" the group that has seized vast parts of both countries and beheaded two American journalists.

This is a major escalation for the US, which has avoided direct engagement in Syria's civil war since it began in 2011. But it is also shrouded in a degree of mystery, with the details of the strikes, its targets, and its implications for the Middle East not totally clear.
Here's why that alone may not work...

Well, that and we not only refuse to bomb them to HELL, but we gave them PLENTY o' time for their leadership to hide and wait it out.

But no worries, Sec. Kerry's on the job...well, maybe not so much...
AmericanThinker: It’s not enough that John Kerry's diplomatic plate is overcrowded with unpalatable menaces like ISIS/ISIL and an epidemic of Ebola that could mushroom to pandemic proportions. As busy as Kerry is, flying around the globe and assembling a coalition of supporters to push back against a terrorist group more vicious and well-funded than any in recent history, he still manages to get his licks in about global warming.

In a recent speech before an assemblage of foreign ministers, he urged that the threat of climate change must be addressed with the same ”immediacy” as terrorism and Ebola. The same immediacy? I hadn’t noticed that this administration has been rushing to take any “immediate” measures with those concerns, either.

John Kerry has even coined a new phrase: “climate refugees,” ostensibly meaning that populations are being driven from their homes because there is no water, food, etc.
Kerry's sounding about as reasonable (and by reasonable, I mean nuts!) as Robert F. Kennedy Jr....

What's with the Hepburn-like waver of these loons? Guess it's all a New England thang...I certainly don't understand.

Oh, I think they also missed last month's Al Gore defrocking...as did most of the movement (including the media)...

I'm pretty certain one of these things is not like the other.

Sorry, Politico, but Lois Lerner is no 'victim'

Lois Lerner speaks? Not exactly...
TheFederalist: Lois Lerner. Hero. Servant. Brownie-baking puppy lover. Sister of the Blessed State.

This is about all a person reading Politico’s new exclusive “interview” with the former head of the I.R.S. division that oversees tax-exempt groups, might take away. “I didn’t do anything wrong” claims Lerner, who, like any innocent person, is flanked by a major law firm’s partner, two personal attorneys and her husband – a lawyer. “I’m proud of my career and the job I did for this country.” And in around 3,700 obsequious words, Politico seems to agree.

What exactly did she do for her country, you ask? Well, sitting in her $2.5 million house in Bethesda, Maryland, this question, like most others, goes unanswered. But even before Lerner fails to respond to queries about corruption or cover-ups, the most obvious problem with the piece is the lack of perspective.
The piece goes on to explain the obvious things to remember about Lerner: She's already guilty of regulating free speech and has already admitted & apologized for the IRS's practice of targeting conservatives groups; of course a woman who calls conservatives “crazies” and “assholes” in government emails is anything but apolitical; and she's obviously hiding something while hiding behind the Fifth to avoid congressional questioning, and while under suspicion of destroying evidence, she spins with Politico?
The only conceivable reason, after all, that Lerner won’t talk to Congress or the media is because she is faced with the unenviable choice of lying or fessing up to something. Not that you’d know any of that reading Politico’s puff piece.

What I did learn, though, was that Lerner gets revolting emails from some random people. So please reserve your empathy for her, dog-lover and public servant, rather than groups that were denied the right to participate in the political process because of her actions.

A 'New' Republican Party?

"My friends, the time has come to start acting to bring about the great conservative majority party we know is waiting to be created." ~ Ronald Reagan, 'The New Republican Party' - February 6, 1977, 4th Annual CPAC Convention
This message should have been blasted on loudspeakers daily, no, hourly, much like a call to prayer if you will, immediately following McCain's loss in 2008...and definitely by Romney's in 2012!

Levin read this as Friday evening's monologue. Among my initial reflections was the thought of how successful not only the party, but the nation, would be now only if Republicans had stayed the course that Reagan set forth. Sadly, the party, composed of its befuddled leaders and bad lieutenants, have drifted leftward away from these prescribed principles...
"...the time has come to see if it is possible to present a program of action based on political principle that can attract those interested in the so-called "social" issues and those interested in "economic" issues. In short, isn't it possible to combine the two major segments of contemporary American conservatism into one politically effective whole?

I believe the answer is: Yes, it is possible to create a political entity that will reflect the views of the great, hitherto [unacknowledged], conservative majority. We went a long way toward doing it in California. We can do it in America. This is not a dream, a wistful hope. It is and has been a reality. I have seen the conservative future and it works.

Let me say again what I said to our conservative friends from the academic world: What I envision is not simply a melding together of the two branches of American conservatism into a temporary uneasy alliance, but the creation of a new, lasting majority.

This will mean compromise. But not a compromise of basic principle. What will emerge will be something new: something open and vital and dynamic, something the great conservative majority will recognize as its own, because at the heart of this undertaking is principled politics.

I have always been puzzled by the inability of some political and media types to understand exactly what is meant by adherence to political principle. All too often in the press and the television evening news it is treated as a call for "ideological purity." Whatever ideology may mean -- and it seems to mean a variety of things, depending upon who is using it -- it always conjures up in my mind a picture of a rigid, irrational clinging to abstract theory in the face of reality. We have to recognize that in this country "ideology" is a scare word. And for good reason. Marxist-Leninism is, to give but one example, an ideology. All the facts of the real world have to be fitted to the Procrustean bed of Marx and Lenin. If the facts don't happen to fit the ideology, the facts are chopped off and discarded.

I consider this to be the complete opposite to principled conservatism. If there is any political viewpoint in this world which is free from slavish adherence to abstraction, it is American conservatism.

When a conservative states that the free market is the best mechanism ever devised by the mind of man to meet material needs, he is merely stating what a careful examination of the real world has told him is the truth.

When a conservative says that totalitarian Communism is an absolute enemy of human freedom he is not theorizing -- he is reporting the ugly reality captured so unforgettably in the writings of Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

When a conservative says it is bad for the government to spend more than it takes in, he is simply showing the same common sense that tells him to come in out of the rain.

When a conservative says that busing does not work, he is not appealing to some theory of education -- he is merely reporting what he has seen down at the local school.
('common core' could easily be used synonymously with 'busing' in our post-modern context)
When a conservative quotes Jefferson that government that is closest to the people is best, it is because he knows that Jefferson risked his life, his fortune and his sacred honor to make certain that what he and his fellow patriots learned from experience was not crushed by an ideology of empire.

Conservatism is the antithesis of the kind of ideological fanaticism that has brought so much horror and destruction to the world. The common sense and common decency of ordinary men and women, working out their own lives in their own way -- this is the heart of American conservatism today. Conservative wisdom and principles are derived from willingness to learn, not just from what is going on now, but from what has happened before.

The principles of conservatism are sound because they are based on what men and women have discovered through experience in not just one generation or a dozen, but in all the combined experience of mankind. When we conservatives say that we know something about political affairs, and that we know can be stated as principles, we are saying that the principles we hold dear are those that have been found, through experience, to be ultimately beneficial for individuals, for families, for communities and for nations -- found through the often bitter testing of pain, or sacrifice and sorrow.

One thing that must be made clear in post-Watergate is this: The American new conservative majority we represent is not based on abstract theorizing of the kind that turns off the American people, but on common sense, intelligence, reason, hard work, faith in God, and the guts to say: "Yes, there are things we do strongly believe in, that we are willing to live for, and yes, if necessary, to die for." That is not "ideological purity." It is simply what built this country and kept it great.

Let us lay to rest, once and for all, the myth of a small group of ideological purists trying to capture a majority. Replace it with the reality of a majority trying to assert its rights against the tyranny of powerful academics, fashionable left-revolutionaries, some economic illiterates who happen to hold elective office and the social engineers who dominate the dialogue and set the format in political and social affairs. If there is any ideological fanaticism in American political life, it is to be found among the enemies of freedom on the left or right -- those who would sacrifice principle to theory, those who worship only the god of political, social and economic abstractions, ignoring the realities of everyday life. They are not conservatives.

Our first job is to get this message across to those who share most of our principles. If we allow ourselves to be portrayed as ideological shock troops without correcting this error we are doing ourselves and our cause a disservice. Wherever and whenever we can, we should gently but firmly correct our political and media friends who have been perpetuating the myth of conservatism as a narrow ideology. Whatever the word may have meant in the past, today conservatism means principles evolving from experience and a belief in change when necessary, but not just for the sake of change.

Once we have established this, the next question is: What will be the political vehicle by which the majority can assert its rights?"
At the time, 1977, Reagan's call was not for a new political third party, but rather a New Republican Party. He believed that the "political success of the principles we believe in can best be achieved in the Republican Party."
"I believe the Republican Party can hold and should provide the political mechanism through which the goals of the majority of Americans can be achieved. For one thing, the biggest single grouping of conservatives is to be found in that party. It makes more sense to build on that grouping than to break it up and start over. Rather than a third party, we can have a new first party made up of people who share our principles. I have said before that if a formal change in name proves desirable, then so be it. But tonight, for purpose of discussion, I’m going to refer to it simply as the New Republican Party.

And let me say so there can be no mistakes as to what I mean: The New Republican Party I envision will not be, and cannot, be one limited to the country club-big business image that, for reasons both fair and unfair, it is burdened with today. The New Republican Party I am speaking about is going to have room for the man and the woman in the factories, for the farmer, for the cop on the beat and the millions of Americans who may never have thought of joining our party before, but whose interests coincide with those represented by principled Republicanism. If we are to attract more working men and women of this country, we will do so not by simply "making room" for them, but by making certain they have a say in what goes on in the party. The Democratic Party turned its back on the majority of social conservatives during the 1960s. The New Republican Party of the late ’70s and ’80s must welcome them, seek them out, enlist them, not only as rank-and-file members but as leaders and as candidates."
Yet it is precisely the Establishment of the party that disallows such vision. And it's the same cronyism that is incapable of articulating the conservative message...perhaps because they no longer prescribe to conservatism...
"The New Republican Party I envision is one that will energetically seek out the best candidates for every elective office, candidates who not only agree with, but understand, and are willing to fight for a sound, honest economy, for the interests of American families and neighborhoods and communities and a strong national defense. And these candidates must be able to communicate those principles to the American people in language they understand. Inflation isn’t a textbook problem. Unemployment isn’t a textbook problem. They should be discussed in human terms.

Our candidates must be willing to communicate with every level of society, because the principles we espouse are universal and cut across traditional lines. In every Congressional district there should be a search made for young men and women who share these principles and they should be brought into positions of leadership in the local Republican Party groups. We can find attractive, articulate candidates if we look, and when we find them, we will begin to change the sorry state of affairs that has led to a Democratic-controlled Congress for more than 40 years. I need not remind you that you can have the soundest principles in the world, but if you don't have candidates who can communicate those principles, candidates who are articulate as well as principled, you are going to lose election after election. I refuse to believe that the good Lord divided this world into Republicans who defend basic values and Democrats who win elections. We have to find tough, bright young men and women who are sick and tired of cliches and the pomposity and the mind-numbing economic idiocy of the liberals in Washington."
As Reagan professed just two years earlier, the same applies that there's nothing here that could or should be considered contrary to Republican principle. "It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism." Again, it's just through the prism of time that those leading the Republican Party have now drifted away from these principles. I would propose that the time is ripe for a relabeling of sorts.

Reagan said in '75, "if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way." I wonder if it might be wisest at this later date, 37 years after his '77 CPAC speech, to let the defeatist wing of the Republican squishes have their Grand Old label, while revitalized conservatives adopt the New based on Reagan's proposal?
