RWNews: The arrogance of this president has reached new heights–if you will–as now Obama thinks he can just start renaming mountains because he feels like it. Over the weekend Obama wiped Alaska’s Mt. McKinley off the map and decided to rename it Mr. Denali. What's Boehner gonna do, cry? See what all those rounds of golf have done for you with your good pal? I don't guess any branch of government will ever hold this rogue president accountable...so will future one's receive the same regard? And would Americans really want that?
Mt. McKinley, the tallest mountain in Alaska, has been named after President William McKinley for almost 100 years. But that isn’t good enough for Obama. He has now changed it to Mt. Denali because that is what native Americans called it before Alaska became a state.
As McKinley was from Ohio, both Democrats and Republicans in the Buckeye State are furious with Obama’s pandering to the native Americans.
Ohio lawmakers reacted angrily Sunday to the White House’s announcement that President Obama would formally rename Alaska’s Mt. McKinley — North America’s highest peak — “Denali” during his trip to The Last Frontier this week.Amusingly, the Native American word “Denali” means “the high one,” and people are saying that Obama must be “high” to change the name of this mountain just because he feels like it.
“Mount McKinley … has held the name of our nation’s 25th President for over 100 years,” Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, said in a statement. “This landmark is a testament to his countless years of service to our country.” Gibbs also described Obama’s action as “constitutional overreach,” saying that an act of Congress was required to rename the mountain, because a law formally naming it after Ohio’s William McKinley was passed in 1917.
“This political stunt is insulting to all Ohioans, and I will be working with the House Committee on Natural Resources to determine what can be done to prevent this action,” Gibbs said.
The Ohio delegation’s disappointment at the decision cut across party lines.
“We must retain this national landmark’s name in order to honor the legacy of this great American president and patriot,” Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, whose district includes McKinley’s hometown of Niles, in eastern Ohio.
Hewitt discussed this latest abuse of power with Cruz, who called it "the latest manifestation of the megalomaniacal imperial presidency that we have seen for six and a half years. This administration has been the most lawless administration we've ever seen, and this presidient routinely disregards the law, disregards the Constitution, disregards the Congress..." Cruz continued to remind listeners of Obama's tendencies...
"One of the things that Barack Obama said is, "I am not an emperor." That was his explanation for why he couldn't unilaterally issue amnesty. And then a few months later the election was approaching, and I guess he became an emperor, because he issued the order that he had just said he would have had to be an emperor to issue!"
Question is, though, will Congress do anything about it? Sadly, I think we all know the answer.
Eh, as long as it's just another white man's mark erased, no big deal, right? This president divides daily.
