Levin explains the purpose of the Second Amendment

In the wake of the despotic overreach that's being discussed against the citizenry's right to bear arms, Levin comes out swinging with a brilliant monologue, explaining the explicit purpose of the Second Amendment...

"Whether you like it or not, whether you agree with it or not, it was to make sure that the population was armed in order to overthrow a tyrannical government. Now that's the truth. That shouldn't scare people."

Mark discusses the misconception of gun owners promulgated by the politicians and pundits, explaining that the vast majority of gun owners are actually among the most responsible members of our society. The level of responsibility and restraint can easily be measured by the simple fact that gun owners haven't already overthrown the government! Mark also elaborates on the history of this amendment, as well as the Bill of Rights, and reemphasizes the point...

"The Bill of Rights exist, including the Second Amendment, to protect the individual from the federal government... So the Second Amendment had as its purpose, not hunting, not sports shooting, not target shooting, not just individual self defense, but defense against a tyrannical government. It's true!"

And however inconvenient it is for modern Democratic lawmakers, our Founding Fathers decisively back him up!

“A free people ought to be armed.” ~ George Washington

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government” ~ Thomas Jefferson

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.” ~ Patrick Henry

“Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense.” ~ John Adams

“To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them.” ~ George Mason

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms.” ~ James Madison

“The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.” ~ Noah Webster

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.” ~ Richard Henry Lee

ADDENDUM: Levin builds on the broader infringements on our rights and our safety that this administration would plunder...
The following 14 minute segment of Mark Levin's radio program likely reflects the feelings of many law abiding good Americans while the Lilliputians of government continue to tighten the chains of liberty and freedom. The onslaught and rush for more gun control following the Sandy Hook shooting is so extreme, that both sides are glaringly and clearly apparent in their opposing viewpoints, emotion, logic, or lack thereof.
