Shark jump alert: Trump goes birther on Cruz...again (UPDATE)

This is how Donald Trump operates: whenever he's threatened by someone in the polls, he tries to smear his opponents. ... Trump jumped the shark and is no longer funny, cool, or even mildly entertaining. ~ PJMedia

With Cruz still riding high in Iowa, and now taking the lead in Utah and California, the Washington Cartel is apparently not the only one panicking. Yep, Donald Trump has gone birther on Ted Cruz! Funny how polls affect powerful people...
WaPo: Donald Trump said in an interview that rival Ted Cruz’s Canadian birthplace was a “very precarious” issue that could make the Texas senator vulnerable if he became the Republican presidential nominee.

“Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: ‘Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?’ That’d be a big problem,” Trump said when asked about the topic. “It’d be a very precarious one for Republicans because he’d be running and the courts may take a long time to make decision. You don’t want to be running and have that kind of thing over your head.”

Trump added, “I’d hate to see something like that get in his way. But a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some states are looking at it very strongly, the fact that he was born in Canada and he has had a double passport.”

Catherine Frazier, a spokeswoman for Cruz, declined to comment Tuesday.
Cruz responded brilliantly, as well as hilariously...
The fact is, the Donald has flipped-flopped all over the place on this singular issue alone...

There was the time when Trump could go either way...

In March (when he was still talking to Kelly), Trump said, 'nope, not eligible'...

Then by September he'd changed his tune, 'yep, eligible!'

...but now he's back at it with the birther stuff, repeating his cycle of disinformation.

One could only imagine the number of flip-flops out of the spotlight.

Here's the bottom line: If Cruz started dropping below Trump in the polls, he’d suddenly rediscover that Ted's eligible again! So goes the antics of the Trumpster. Feels similar to another clown we've come to know and loath over the past eight years, huh?

ADDENDUM: via TRS...
Mark Levin weighed in last night on his radio show about the comments made by Donald Trump regarding Ted Cruz’s eligibility to be president. In short, Levin said there is no issue there because he has already looked into it and that Trump needs to focus on substantive issues and stay away from these types of attacks.

He can't help himself, Mark...it's what he does, because however great the talking point resonates, the substance is just not there.

Here's Levin's research back in September...of 2013!

Cruz is eligible. He's running. Deal with it.

ADDENDUM II: Oh, and then there's this one...careful, Donald, HA!
Is Donald Trump a Natural Born Citizen?
The short answer is that Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Obama, Santorum, Jindal, and McCain (reaching back to 2008) are all natural born citizens, and they are all Constitutionally eligible to run for President. They were either born in the United States, abroad to at least one American citizen parent, or on an overseas American military base. ... It’s time this idiotic argument was sent to the dung heap of history.
Here, here!
