McConnell Senate allows Democrats to block 'sanctuary cities' legislation

Senate Democrats blocked legislation to crack down on sanctuary cities, which would cut off funds or grants from that city. The Republicans have the votes to beat the Democrats, but they don’t have the will power and Mitch McConnell won't suspend the filibuster rule. ~ ML, 10/20/15
In the words of one RedState writer, "This is what having a GOP majority and gutless, go-along-to-get-along leadership in the Senate gets you." McConnell and cronies' fingerprints are all over this setup, vis-à-vis the reinstituted parliamentary rules that Reid abandoned during his tenure, but that McConnell's cowardice maintains in his further efforts to coddle the Obama agenda...
AP: Senate Democrats on Tuesday blocked legislation to crack down on "sanctuary cities" that shield residents from federal immigration authorities, casting the bill as anti-immigration policy...

The 54-45 vote on the measure fell shy of the 60 required to move to final vote on the bill, which Republicans have pushed since the July 1 shooting of Kathryn Steinle in San Francisco. The man charged in the killing, Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez, was in the country illegally despite a long criminal record and multiple prior deportations. He had been released by San Francisco authorities despite a request from federal immigration authorities to keep him detained.

The bill by Louisiana Sen. David Vitter would punish jurisdictions that don't share immigration information or cooperate with federal requests, blocking them from receiving certain grants and funds.

"Rather than reward cities, we must start enforcing our current immigration laws and strengthen our borders to keep Americans here safe at home," Vitter said.

San Francisco and hundreds of other jurisdictions nationally have adopted policies of disregarding federal immigration requests...

The White House threatened to veto the bill, saying it would jeopardize crucial law enforcement dollars and lead to mistrust between federal and local officials. ...

Congressional Democrats and the Obama administration have said that the best way to get at the problem is a comprehensive immigration overhaul...

Republicans have called for stricter enforcement. The GOP House passed legislation similar to Vitter's bill this summer, which the White House also threatened to veto.
It couldn't be more apparent that this imperial president and his increasingly socialistic party in their efforts to maintain iron-fisted authority through the manipulation of the citizenry are working tirelessly towards a lawless, unfettered incursion of America and her states' sovereignty. Unfortunately, any potential of an opposition party has been neutered by the Republican-in-name-only quisling leadership. This is but another sample of the perversions of law maintained by the one-party elites of the Washington Cartel.
RedState: The idea that cities can create no-go zones for the enforcement of US immigration laws, our own equivalent of Parisian suburbs where the national law does not run, is bizarre. It is doubly bizarre as the Supreme Court has ruled that states and municipalities have to defer to the federal government on this subject. ...

This perversion of our system of laws was brought home when Katie Steinle was gunned down by a five-time deported illegal alien felon sheltering in the sanctuary city of San Francisco. Two Republicans did not vote for the bill... Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who was presumably off squandering the money some chumps gave him to run for president, and Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL), who voted with the Democrats.

This type of vote shows why the weak sisters we are perpetually conned into supporting are more of a danger than an asset. Kirk is pooping his drawers at the thought of his upcoming reelection campaign. As a result he has become a voracious, conscienceless PanderBear, who essentially acts as another Democrat senator. Kirk doesn’t realize that to win elections, someone has to vote for him and right now Republicans have no reason to do so. He also needs to realize that Democrat voters will vote for the real Democrat over the fake Democrat every time.
Apparently, Democrats (and some Republicans) not only think illegal aliens take precedent over the safety of American citizens, but their radicalized logic dictates that illegal aliens also matter more than the citizenry when it comes to political snowing. Hence, they take the out-with-the-old-in-with-the-new approach to a revolutionary, unassimilated populace shift. Cheap labor for Repubs; cheap votes for Dems. Replacing We The People with a new citizenry that's accustomed to socialist tyranny.
