The fall of the Republi...can Party?

"Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." ~ John Adams
The same could more easily be said of a party...

This whole immigration/amnesty push is really enlightening. It's provided much insight into how the GOP is not just destroying itself, but how it's turned away from its principles and turned on its conservative base. Its embarrassed of us...

Adams also said, "In politics the middle way is none at all." The Democratic Party seemed to have learned this long ago. Beyond all the double-speaking rhetoric and lies, their goals are always one-directional and Progressively defined. They're solidly unshakable in all their wrong-headed endeavors. On the other hand, the Republican Party, the major political party that could get it right, even after the Reagan presidency (in which they should have learned from the backstabbing of the '86 amnesty deal), continues to fight against its own conservative identity. And however unfortunate it may be, there's no blaming Obama or Democrats for that weakness from within. Sorry, but it's true.

Here's two examples to prove the point...

Exhibit A: Jeb Bush: Immigrants are 'more fertile'

WaPo: Former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) argued Wednesday that the United States should pass immigration reform because the U.S. economy needs the labor of young immigrants, and immigrants are “more fertile.”

“Immigrants create far more businesses than native-born Americans,” Bush said at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to the Majority conference. “Immigrants are more fertile, and they love families, and they have more intact families, and they bring a younger population. Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.”
To set in context, Jeb said this after castigating conservatives among the party as being 'reactionary' and 'too negative'...you know, we're not hopey changey enough. So, this is Jeb's answer to 'economic opportunity'.

Oh, he also began his speech by making sure you knew he wasn't going to criticize Obama or his policies. Neither did McCain or Romney, and look where that got us...

Exhibit B: Marco Rubio: We need to legalize immigrants so they can pay for border security
TheExaminer: Why is it necessary to legalize the roughly 11 million currently-illegal immigrants in the U.S. before newly enhanced border security and internal enforcement measures are in place? Sen. Marco Rubio, the leading Republican on the Senate’s Gang of Eight, says part of the reason is that the federal government can’t afford to secure the border on its own and needs financial help from the immigrants themselves, in the form of fines paid when they are legalized.

Rubio made the statement during a radio interview after he voted against an amendment from Republican Sen. Charles Grassley that would have put off legalization until after the border is secure — a position supported by majorities of voters across the political spectrum. Host Andrea Tantaros asked Rubio why he opposed something that was important “to so many in the Republican party?”

Rubio’s first reason was that the U.S. has no other choice than to legalize the 11 million. Enhancing security first would take an estimated four years, and Rubio declared, “We cannot wait another four years with 11 million people living in this country illegally without knowing who they are or why they’re here.”

But there was another reason. “We need to register them as soon as possible, not just to keep the problem from getting worse, but we’re going to require them to pay a fine, and that’s the money that we are going to use to pay for the border security,” Rubio explained. “If we don’t get that fine money from the people that have violated our immigration laws, then the American taxpayer is going to have to pay for border security.”
NEWSFLASH: If or when this government decides to secure the border, which it's not, the American taxpayer will be the ones to pay for it! But back up...his first reason for voting down Grassley's amendment nearly mimics Chuck Schumer's irrationaleDe facto citizenship won't solve a damn bit of this, you schmuck! It'll only exacerbate the problem...

This is the worthless rot within the Republican Party right now, folks. And this is what's killing the party off...not Obama, not the Democratic Party, and not those 'reactionary' conservatives trying to stand for the founding values & principles that guys like Obama (and apparently these two) despise.
