Two days of remembrance in one

Divine coincidence...

TheStarPress: This year, Veterans Day coincides with International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Throughout our nation’s history, our military veterans have stood up for and protected those facing persecution, whether such persecution be against Christians, Jews, or those of other faiths.

This has ranged from defeating Nazism during World War II to fighting al-Qaida and the Taliban in our present day.

On this Veterans Day, may we honor our veterans fighting against persecution. For if we, as a country, do nothing, evil will triumph. And let’s “remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them.” – Hebrews 13:3.

Thank a vet today, and pray for those still serving in harms way, as well as persecuted Christians throughout hostile regions of the world. One coincident that can't be overlooked is that among many of these place across the globe, particularly the Middle East and Asia, we often find members from both of these courageous groups.

O LORD God of Hosts, stretch forth, we pray thee, thine almighty arm to strengthen and protect the soldiers of our country; Support them in the day of battle, and in the time of peace keep them safe from all evil; endue them with courage and loyalty; and grant that in all things they may serve without reproach; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O ETERNAL Lord God, who alone spreadest out the heavens, and rulest the raging of the sea; Vouchsafe to take into thy almighty and most gracious protection our country’s Navy, and all who serve therein. Preserve them from the dangers of the sea, and from the violence of the enemy; that they may be a safeguard unto the United States of America, and a security for such as pass on the seas upon their lawful occasions; that the inhabitants of our land may in peace and quietness serve thee our God, to the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast created man in thine own image; Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil, and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice among men and nations, to the glory of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

"Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body." ~ Hebrew 13:3
