Let's not mence words, Harry…"women’s health services" = ABORTION. This is NOT about cancer screenings, which can be provided at any number of medical facilities besides Planned Parenthood. Harry Reid is saying that FUNDING Planned Parenthood, one among many nonessentially-funded federal services, is more important than a functioning federal government! But in that same breath, both he and Obama say they will CRUSH a rider that provides pay to our armed servicemembers! No pay for our soldiers, but we’ve gotta fund abortion? Who’s the ‘baby killer’ here?! Furthermore, if not Planned Parenthood, then what about the EPA, Harry? And if not the EPA, how about the Dept. of Education? And if not that, how about the Dept. of Commerce? How about cutting the federal umbilical cord to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Not to mention all the endless ‘foreign aid’! And I could keep going. See, what it all boils down to is that Democrats (and some RINOs, although not specific to this current conundrum) will not allow cuts to ANY nonessential items that have no relevance to the functioning of our federal government, because they are beholden to the statists' ideology of regulation, subsidy and entitlement, within and abroad, ultimate dependency.
