The lies and demagoguery have begun…and continue... (UPDATES)

Americans are faced with two choices: either we can turn things around and embrace Ryan’s Path to Prosperity or we can continue down our current Road to Serfdom. I know this is a ‘tough choice’ for politicians, but for most Americans, the solution could not be clearer. Yet in saying that, just as Ryan warned and predicted, the Democrat demagoguery has begun…

Breitbart comments on his site, "Wait, it gets better.  She quotes scripture!"

And the newly selected DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, echoes the former speaker…

These people bank on a dumded-down citizenry, an enslaved class, who’d rather let bureaucrats run their lives than take responsibility of their own liberty. So, what if we don’t slow our slide into serfdom and reverse course? Well, Levin gives us a glimpse of a possible dystopian future…

Folks, it’s past time for ALL to awaken to the stark reality that we must reverse course. No longer can the analogy be repeated that ‘both Democrats and Republicans create destructive policy, Republicans just feel bad about it’. House Republicans have taken this bull by the horns, and are poised to do something about it! While, as Rush stated this morning, “We’re at the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, and we’re still trying to free the slaves from the Democrat Party!”

ADDENDUM:  While further demagoguery is observed in the shadow of a possible government shutdown, Heritage sets aside the hysteria to address the reality of the situation in its appropriate context:

It has been more than 40 days since the House passed a budget for 2011, cutting spending by $61 billion. The task was left undone by the previous Democrat-controlled Congress, the first time since 1974, an embarrassing feat for a body charged with holding the purse strings. Today that task remains incomplete, and the moment until a partial government shutdown is growing near, easily measured in hours, not days. It’s time for action and leadership, not press conferences and finger pointing.

So it remains that the parties stand at an impasse, leaving the government teetering on the brink of a partial shutdown. But despite President Obama’s apocalyptic warnings, a shutdown is not the catastrophe he paints it to be. Even if Congress and the president fail to reach agreement, Social Security checks are still mailed, and essential services continue, including military, law enforcement, VA care, and others.

Remarkably, a partial shutdown is a reality simply because the Democratic leadership is drawing a line in the sand over a few billions of dollars in cuts, what Fox News’ Megyn Kelly accurately described as “teaspoons in the ocean.” The United States is $14.3 trillion in debt, and according to a CBO report, the federal government ran a budget deficit of $223 billion in February. Meanwhile, the Senate sits on its hands over cuts that amount to a few days of deficit spending.

Perhaps if President Obama were more willing to lead in 2010, when his party first abdicated its responsibility to pass a budget, Congress and the American people would not be where we are today – staring a partial government shutdown straight in the eye, all while trillions of dollars in debt await future generations. Majority Leader Reid and President Obama now must put politics aside, agree to modestly cut spending, move the process forward and avoid a shutdown.

And a new Fox News Poll shows that most Americans would vote against raising the debt ceiling, even at the risk of shutting down the government.  Yes, Mr. President and cohorts, some are actually trying to SAVE OUR COUNTRY, instead of fearmongering with frivolous concerns about whether Yellowstone will be open or whether passports and visas will be issued!  By the way, who are all these 'poor' people traveling all over the place?  Furthermore, where the hell are you going if you're so concerned about a shutdown?!  Oh that's right, you've got a campaign to attend to...

UPDATE:  The Washington Post BUSTS Pelosi!  Her absurd math on senior citizens losing their meals doesn't pass the Pinocchio Test...yet another example of the 'feeding-granny-dog-food' demagoguery...and exposed by a mainstream media outlet!  How 'bout that?

UPDATE II:  The competition for Most Hyperbolic Demagogue of 2011 continues, and as Ed Morrissey shows us in a Hot Air piece, "It's a race to the bottom in DC, led by a couple of jackasses!"

How 'civil'?  Ladies, here's a REAL "War on Women"...not the crap your shoveling...
