ArmyTimes: The Army has charged Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, officials announced Wednesday. And despite the obvious treachery, the Obama regime still defends their trade!
Bergdahl, who spent five years as a captive under the Taliban before he was freed in a May 31 prisoner swap, will face an Article 32 preliminary hearing, said Col. Daniel King, a spokesman for Army Forces Command.
The decision by Gen. Mark Milley, commanding general of FORSCOM, comes after a review of the facts and findings from an extensive Army investigation to determine what, if any, actions should be taken against Bergdahl.
FoxNews: The incoming White House communications director defended the decision to trade Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban leaders last year, even as newly announced desertion charges for Bergdahl renewed Republican criticism of the prisoner swap.Add another exclamation point onto another bad deal if Obama is allowed to proceed with nuking up Tehran!
"Was it worth it? Absolutely," Jen Psaki told Megyn Kelly on Fox News' "The Kelly File." "We have a commitment to our men and women serving in the military, defending our national security every day, that we're going to do everything to bring them home if we can, and that's what we did in this case."
Psaki's comments were the first from a top administration official since the charges were announced earlier Wednesday.
Lawmakers who long were critical of the 2014 prisoner swap, meanwhile, pointed to the latest development in reviving those concerns.
"Today's announcement is the exclamation point on the bad deal the Obama administration cut to free five terrorist killers in its rush to empty the prison at Guantanamo Bay," House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce, R-Calif., said in a statement.
Levin gave us an earful of the broader picture emerging from this and from Obama's agenda...
"I can go on and on about this Bergdahl thing, but the fact of the matter is nobody's going to be held to account. Nobody's been held to account because of Benghazi. Nobody's been held to account for Fast & Furious. Nobody's been held to account for the IRS scandal. This administration is loaded with scandals, abuse of power, maladministration, misappropriation. It's loaded with it, and nothing comes of it. And there's really two reasons for this: The media are corrupt, they are the Praetorian Guard, and Congress is inept and impotent. Because through the media, you could create the kind of public pressure that's necessary, and through a competent Congress, using all the tools it has under Article I, among other things, it could drag administration officials before it, expose them, it could use the power of the purse to punish various departments and agencies. But we're stuck."It's good that Bergdahl has finally been charged as the deserter those with common sense knew he was; but more importantly, it's the Islamo-Nazis and Obama helping them achieve the bomb that we need not distract ourselves from.
