BeltwayConfidential: During the House and Oversight Committee hearings on the Benghazi hearings today, Rep. Elijah Cummings explained to one of the witnesses that "death was a part of life."

After Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya revealed his first-hand account of the terrorist attacks against the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, the rest of the room sat in silence. Cummings explained to Hicks that the dramatic testimony reminded him of a eulogy he gave years ago for a relative.

"I said that, 'death is a part of life but so often we have to find a way to make life a part of death,'" Cummings stated.
