It matters: five key points from Benghazi hearing

It matters.

If you missed today's testimony by three brave American heroes who stood before a congressional committee to finally reveal an accurate, and at times emotional, account of the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which resulted in the senseless and brutal murder of four American patriots, including an American ambassador, Breitbart simplifies it for you with five key points:
1. Two "stand-down" orders were given while the Benghazi attacks were in progress.
2. The "protest" about a YouTube video was a complete fabrication by the Obama administration.
3. Cheryl Mills, Clinton's lawyer at the State Department, told witnesses not to speak to House investigators.
4. The diplomatic personnel on the ground acted with incredible, unheralded heroism.
5. Democrats came to rebut the eyewitnesses with talking points.

The key question remains unanswered: What did President Barack Obama do when he learned the consulate was under attack, and why?
Taking these one at a time, former Deputy Chief of Mission in Libya Gregory Hicks described the reaction of U.S. military personnel in Tripoli being told to stand down and not embark on a rescue mission the night of the Benghazi attack (via FreeBeacon):
“They were furious. I can only say, well I will quote Lieutenant Colonel Gibson — he said 'this is the first time in my career that a diplomat has more balls than somebody in the military.'

Adding to this (via RedState), former Ambassador, Rep. Ann Wagner made clear today during a radio interview that only one office gives the stand-down order: the President.

Gregory Hicks emphatically stated to Rep. Patrick Henry that the Youtube video that the Obama administration repeatedly blamed for the attack was a non-event in Libya:

Hicks also testified that he was told by State Dept. officials not to meet with Congressman Chaffetz who was sent to investigate the attack on the consulate in Benghazi. Hicks said a State Department lawyer accompanied the delegation and attempted to be in every single meeting he was involved in. (via BuzzFeed)

Furthermore, this top ranking U.S. diplomat in Libya after Ambassador Stevens' death says the FBI never bothered to interview him during their investigation. Wow.

There's not much to add to the fact that diplomatic personnel on the ground acted with incredible, unheralded heroism. That is without question. However, what follows as Breitbart's fifth key point was predictable and on full display during today's hearing.

Michelle Malkin's piece, entitled "Operation Smear Benghazi Whistleblowers," presented us with a preview of what to expect from Democratic Senators. But Charles Krauthammer pretty much summed up Democrat's 'frankly embarassing' behavior (via FoxNation).
“All they were doing is hurling political charges. Here were State Department officials, career officials who don’t have any ax to grind, who don’t have any political motive here, giving facts and the Democrats essentially ignored them and said, ‘It’s an attack on Hillary.’ Well, this didn’t start today with Hillary as the lead candidate in the next election … So to pretend this is all about Hillary and her presidential campaign as Democrats are doing is preposterous.”

Mark Levin added this evening that if Hillary Clinton swore to tell the truth in front of either of the previous Benghazi investigative committees, "I believe she committed perjury."
"It is more than obvious after today's hearing that Hillary Clinton lied by omission."

As for Breitbart's final question: "What did President Barack Obama do when he learned the consulate was under attack, and why?" I'll once again default to what we know: he was fundraising that night, he went home and went to bed, then awoke to continue fundraising...all while our consulate burned and our ambassador and diplomats were murdered. Why? Because he was on the verge of winning a second term election and didn't give a damn about anyone else.
