WeaselZippers: When asked about Benghazi whistle blowers being intimidated, Obama claimed to reporters yesterday he was “not familiar with this notion that anybody has been blocked from testifying”. Notice he doesn’t actually answer the question about whether he knew they were being intimidated, just whether they have been “blocked from testifying”.Related link: Benghazi Gate - New Explosive Info On Attack In Libya - Whistleblowers Threaten By Obama Admin
Yet Representative Darrell Issa said in a statement today he has repeatedly written to the Obama team directly asking them to resolve the issue of the State Dept blocking the witnesses lawyers from getting proper information they have requested, that he sent 4 separate letters.
Via Washington Examiner:
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., accused President Obama of “aid[ing] those in his Administration who are intimidating” potential Benghazi whistle-blowers, because Obama pleaded ignorance when asked about the issue today.
“Even if the President really doesn’t know anything about someone wanting to come forward, his position should be that whistleblowers deserve protection and that anyone who has different information about Benghazi is free to come forward to Congress,” Issa said in a statement today. “The President’s unwillingness to commit himself to protecting whistleblowers only aids those in his Administration who are intimidating them.”
...But now, one of the special operators whose blown the whistle on the Benghazi cover-up is making a startling confession: the mastermind behind the Benghazi attack is known and is capable of being arrested, yet the Obama administration is allowing him to remain free, while continuing to ignore the threats that are building elsewhere in the region!
WeaselZippers: The special operator says the administration is doing nothing, even though the threat is building, because “they don’t want to offend anyone”. Where have we heard this before?
For Pat Smith, for Charles Woods, for all the families, and for our own sake, we must get justice and action on Benghazi. Seven months and still counting…
Via Fox News Insider:
It’s been seven months since the September 11 Benghazi, Libya attacks and there have been no arrests. The second of a three-part exclusive investigation digging into Benghazi aired on Special Report tonight.
Multiple sources tell Fox News that the United States has identified the mastermind behind the attack, who is still in Libya and walks free. A special operator, whose identity was concealed for safety, watched the events unfold and spoke to Fox News’ Adam Housley.
He chose to speak out because he’s frustrated with excuses, lies and lack of military response since Ambassador Chris Stevens and three more Americans were killed in Benghazi. “We have all the capability […] to kill and capture not only terrorists involved with the specific events of 9/11 and Amb. Stevens’ death, but terrorists who are feeding other regions including Europe that could eventually affect our national security in the short term.”
The special operator said that the second highest population of foreign fighters in the war in Iraq came from Benghazi – second only to Saudi Arabia. “The intelligence experts that I work with all say the same thing, that if we just ignore the situation as it presents itself, eventually another invasion will have to take place.”
House Republicans say that Benghazi whistleblowers will 'expose new facts’ in their testimony before an oversight committee that will be held next week. Should be interesting...
TheHill: Eyewitnesses with potentially damaging information on the Obama administration’s handling of last year's terror attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi will testify at a hearing next week, Republicans said.Related link: Special operator claims US could have intervened in Benghazi
The House oversight committee is holding a hearing next week that will “expose new facts and details that the Obama administration has tried to suppress,” oversight chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Wednesday.
Two of Issa's lieutenants said the witnesses at the hearing would include federal employees with direct knowledge of the attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Libya.
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chairman of the oversight subpanel on national security, said people with “personal firsthand knowledge” would testify about the attack. Asked if any “whistleblowers” would be among the witnesses, Chaffetz said: “I think they will be appearing. Some of them.”
“I think you will see — again I can’t release any names to you yet, but next Wednesday I think those of us who are concerned about this issue … we’re finally going to get some answers,” Chaffetz told Fox News on Wednesday.
And Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), a member of Chaffetz's subpanel, told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren late Tuesday that the eyewitnesses would “expose new facts and details that the Obama administration has tried to suppress.”
“You know that hearsay evidence is not so interesting. Firsthand accounts by eyewitnesses are much more compelling,” he said. “I am not at liberty to disclose the identity of the witnesses, but I will just say … it is going to be a very informational and instructive hearing. I would encourage you to follow it. Benghazi is warming up. It is not going away despite the efforts of this administration.”
UPDATE: Spokes-idiot Jay Carney actually said, "Benghazi happened a long time ago..." when trying to brush off the administration's intimidation of whistleblowers. Unreal.
