Syrian setup? (UPDATE)

We've watched Obama and this administration ho-humming throughout this past week pondering what to do concerning Syria. To bomb or not to bomb? To take unilateral executive action as usual or seek congressional approval (and thus a viable scapegoat when things backfire)? And now moronic Republicans (i.e., Boehner, Cantor & McCain) are lining up behind Obama? Never mind that the majority of so-called rebels are al-F'N-Qaeda! But if that's not enough of a deterrent, there's still one vital question being left out of the equation: What if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is being framed?

Rush took to the airwaves this morning citing Yossef Bodansky's piece as a distinct possibility...
GlobalResearch: There is a growing volume of new evidence from numerous sources in the Middle East — mostly affiliated with the Syrian opposition and its sponsors and supporters — which makes a very strong case, based on solid circumstantial evidence, that the August 21, 2013, chemical strike in the Damascus suburbs was indeed a pre-meditated provocation by the Syrian opposition.

The extent of US foreknowledge of this provocation needs further investigation because available data puts the “horror” of the Barack Obama White House in a different and disturbing light.
Rush: "What if Bashar didn’t do it? What if Bashar is being framed?

Al Qaeda setting off their own chemical weapons on their own people. The rebels nerve gassing their own people to create exactly what is happening –- us mobilizing to get rid of Bashar, because they can’t for some reason.

So, they use chemical weapons on their people. It gets blamed on Bashar. We go in and take Bashar out, or do something, and end up on the same side as the rebels, in this case, Al Qaeda.

What if Bashar is being framed? What if Bashar didn't do it? He just wouldn’t gas his own people. Nothing in it for him. What's in it for him to do this, other than get what's happening now?"
More sound bites here.

BTW, Bodansky hasn't been the first to address doubt:

There seems to be much more evidence that the rebels, not Assad, used chemical weapons on the Syrian people. Time for Congress and the administration to reconsider what our President is asking us to do, again.

UPDATE: McClatchy reports more information contradictory to the Obama administration's insistence on blaming Assad for gassing...via Russia!
Russia says it has compiled a 100-page report detailing what it says is evidence that Syrian rebels, not forces loyal to President Bashar Assad, were behind a deadly sarin gas attack in an Aleppo suburb earlier this year.
