TPNN: House Republicans passed the Farm Bill today with a vote of 216-208, outraging many liberals as the bill separated out the farm subsidies from the food stamp spending, leading several House Democrats to rage against Republicans on the House floor.GOOD! Whether 80 billion or 800 quadrillion, it's never enough for these welfare statists. Where's all the recovery in Obamaland talk now?
A unified Farm Bill failed to pass last month and negotiations fell through as Democrats felt that food stamp spending cuts went too far and GOP leaders felt that they weren’t going far enough.
With the Farm Bill being divided, it’s likely that with the farm subsidies out of the way, the GOP-controlled House will likely try to pass a food stamp spending bill that calls for increased cuts. If it should pass, however, it will likely be defeated in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
If food stamp spending cannot be agreed upon, the current level of food stamp spending will continue, which is over $80 billion per year. The food stamp spending authorization expires in September and without a renewal, the program would likely be kept going by Congressional appropriators.
However, without a new food stamp spending bill, the program would remain vulnerable to Republicans and conservatives looking to trim the tremendous expense.
Needless to say, House Democrats went nuts. Starting with one of the (if not 'the') sorriest excuses in federal politics that Texas (oh, Texas) has to offer, one Sheila Jackson Lee...
“The only thing that this House will do when it votes today is defeat starving children. It will again put starving children in the abyss of the uncaring attitude of my friends who, for the first time in decades, are separating the hardline of the farm bill... Hunger is silent. There’s no one on this floor today, no child in that microphone, standing over here, telling you that their belly is protruding because they have not eaten. There is no one on this floor today that goes to a summer program and did not eat because their breakfast program is tied to the schools. And they’re out of school and summer brings about hunger. There’s no one that has told you that families have an extra $300 bill in the summertime to feed their children. And for those who do not have it, no one has told you that the lack of protein and a diet leads to disease and decay of teeth and bones, the very children we say are a priority on this place.”Defeating starving children? How about curtailing abuse, Sheila? Abuses of both the system itself and those persistent within the legislature that continues to roll out numerous interests into singular mammoth pieces of legislation. And I make no apologies for saying that it is NOT the job of taxpayers to provide free breakfast, lunch & dinner for all school children in America. And by the way, Sheila, it's lack of CALCIUM, not protein, that leads to tooth and bone decay. Moron.
Yes, the gentleMAN is out of order...did you hear that too? HA!
Moving on to the head fruitcake from the land of fruits and nuts (I don't even have to say her name, you already know)...
"...on behalf of feeding the American people. It seems a very fundamental thing, biblical in nature, family-wise, and a very important priority for all of us, except maybe not in this House of Representatives..."After slobbering all over the black 'masters' of the Democratic Plantation (otherwise known as the Congressional Black Caucus), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi continued with the hysterics...
“You are taking food out of the mouths of your own poor constituents. Poverty in America. Poverty. I’m saying the word on the floor of the House – poverty! Poverty! Poverty! Poverty! Poverty in America, seems to be a word that people get nervous about. Poverty in America among our children is something shameful. But it is a reality, and it has an impact on children... The audacity to split off the nutrition parts of this bill is so stunning, it would be shocking, except this is a House of shocks. ...but when you take food out of the mouths of babies... What are you thinking?”Ok, let's stop right there. I purposefully split up that last bit for brevity's sake and to make a point.
First, backing up a little...biblical in nature? Family-wise? This woman makes a mockery of both religion and the family on a daily basis, but brings up both traditional institutions whenever it suits her convenience.
Ok, now...let's get to all that 'children' talk. Besides incessantly using the children as a political foil, you want to know what's truly shameful? What truly has an impact on children? Mrs. Unrestricted Abortion-on-Demand says splitting off parts of this bill shockingly takes food out of the mouths of babies...but she's just fine with splitting those same babies into parts before they're able to take their first breath. That's the repulsive shock, madam. Such a despicable buffoon.
Regardless of their idiocy, now the Senate and ultimately Obama, who's already threatened a veto over not including food stamps (which by the way have more than doubled since this President took office), will determine whether a farm bill will materialize at all. Whatever the case, the fight over food stamps and the need to scale back all subsidies throughout this busted welfare leviathan is sure to endure in our broken Capitol of career politicians.
