Lay of the Land towards 2012

Today, Human Events appropriately named Sen. Jim DeMint as 2010’s “Conservative of the Year”!
"Senator Jim DeMint: Conservative Of The Year" by Erick Erickson

I say, “ABSOLUTELY!!” And even though he’s gone on record multiple times and proclaimed that he will not be running for the highest office in the land, it is my belief that such a reluctant leader would be a perfect DRAFT to be our 2012 presidential nominee!

Speaking of 'presidential nominees', this pretty much sums up my concerns with the 'speculated contenders' (even if the article is from Nanny Bloomberg media):
"Leaderless Republicans Look to 2012 Free-for-All" by Albert Hunt
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-02/leaderless-republicans-face-2012-free-for-all-commentary-by-albert-hunt.html
Personally, I think the majority of conservatives would be just fine if those presidential contenders who lost to Obama the first time around would sit this one out (excluding Palin of course…she was a VP contender, don’t ya know!). But, we know the Establishment has different ideas about who should be what, so don’t bet on any of these ‘old dogs’ going home.

By the length of this next article, it would appear that perhaps National Review may be submitting their pick (one who actually didn't make the previous list). From all accounts, John Bolton is one pick that conservatives should definitely be able to stand behind:
"The Man with the Mustache" by Jay Nordlinger

Another person not mentioned in the Bloomberg article, and perhaps more of a long shot, but nevertheless PRINCIPLED contender, is Herman Cain:
"Is Herman Cain running for president?" by Bob Keefe
http://www.ajc.com/news/georgia-politics-elections/herman-cain-running-for-789507.html

And I was even looking forward to Mike Pence throwing his hat in the ring; however, it looks as though the governorship of Indiana is calling (or at least that seems to be what the media is hopeful of):
"Pence May Decide on Political Future in January"

We all know how Republicans have become notorious for solidifying issues, votes and yes, even candidates, down to the wire. However, I think it’s important for these potential contenders to get the ball rolling in this new decade, because the Left, along with the Media, will not make it an easy task to defeat Obama in 2012…you can bank on that!
