Since the 2010 midterms, Cornyn has shown himself to be a firmly-backed GOP establishment McConnell lieutenant, progressively leaning ever more towards party over principle. And the latest betrayal was simply the last straw for many fed-up Texans.TPNN: In a surprising announcement, Texas Congressman Steve Stockman, a Tea Party favorite, announced Monday that he will be running against GOP establishment Senator John Cornyn in the 2014 Senate primary, which takes place on March 4.
Stockman, in an exclusive WND interview, said that a major reason he is taking on the well-funded ($7 million cash on hand) Cornyn is because of the way Cornyn handled the fight , led by his fellow Texas Senator Ted Cruz, to defund Obamacare. Stockman told WND:
“We are extremely disappointed in the way he treated his fellow congressmen and broke the 11th commandment and undermined Ted Cruz’s fight to stop Obamacare.”Stockman specifically criticized incumbent Cornyn, who headed the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2007-2011, for being on the wrong side in the defund debate, stating in the interview:
“And now, it looks like Cruz was right and Cornyn was wrong. He sided with the president, essentially, in making sure Obamacare became law while Cruz did everything possible to stop it.”Conservative radio talk show hosts like powerhouses Mark Levin and Glenn Beck have been extremely critical of Cornyn, who has been in leadership since 2006, leading labels like RINO (Republican in Name Only) to be attached to him. Cornyn alienated many in the grassroots Tea Party movement, when he accused Freedomworks of using “Republican-on-Republican violence” to raise money. Late last month, Cornyn appeared on Beck’s program to try to smooth over the comment.
The Washington Post credited Cornyn for blocking Cruz’s attempt to defund Obamacare. Cruz has declined to endorse the senior senator from Texas, breaking with tradition.
This will definitely be an uphill battle for the conservative representative; but then again, they said Ted Cruz couldn't defeat David Dupehurst. And you know Stockman's doing something right if he's driving the leftist loons of MSLSD, DailyBeast and CrooksAndLiars bonkers!

Rep. Stockman (R., Texas) promises to send donors one barf bag for every $10 they donate. The paper vomit receptacles prominently feature President Barack Obama’s face, with “NO 2” next to it.
Stockman shocked political watchers when he announced a primary challenge against Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas) minutes before the filing deadline.
“We need take-no-prisoners, right wing leaders who will rip apart, tear out, and blow up everything Obama has touched,” Stockman continues. “I’m offering you a change to undo the Obama agenda … and enrage liberals in the process.”
