The Convention of States simulation begins!

And so it begins..this is historic!

NR: The first ever Convention of States simulation is taking place in Colonial Williamsburg from now until September 23rd. Legislators from around the country are convening for the event, a project founded by Citizens for Self Governance. The organization exists to stop the runaway power of the federal government and seeks to keep power in the states.

“Despite this year’s election chaos, I feel optimistic about the future of our nation. Why? Because a massive group of dedicated Americans — citizens and state legislators alike — are taking the bold action the Founders intended us to take at a time such as this,” said Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action.

The COS website states that they have two main goals for the event:
1. We want to call a convention for a particular subject rather than a particular amendment. Instead of calling a convention for a balanced budget amendment (though we are entirely supportive of such an amendment), we want to call a convention for the following purpose: Limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.

2. We believe the grassroots is the key to calling a successful convention. We would like to build a political operation in a minimum of 40 states, getting 100 people to volunteer in at least 75% of the state legislative districts. Only through the support of the American people will this project have a chance to succeed.
Livestream will capture the final day of the Simulation: Friday, September 23rd at 8:45am - 4:45pm ET. Sign up now!

ADDENDUM: Levin's mind was on the same tonight...
We’re not one election away from losing this country, we’ve lost the Constitution already, in many respects. Our Framer’s gave us a fire alarm in the Constitution to save our country and its called Convention of States and Article V. Convention of states is not about populism, because ¾ of the states have to ratify what comes out of the meeting. The agenda of the Convention is to stop burdensome regulations and other elements of an out of control federal government. Some amendments that could be proposed are, the establishing of term limits for Congress, term limits for Supreme Court Justices, limits on taxing, limits on spending and limits on federal bureaucracy. ...when you listen to President Obama or Republicans, there is no future for our children and grandchildren. These people are out of control and have breached the Constitution’s firewall. We the people need to take back control so that the government will have to respond to us, instead of the other way around. We are at a point where even the recourse to a Convention of States could be lost, unless we continually push and commit to executing Article V.
