NYP: Food stamps are paying for trans-Atlantic takeout — with New Yorkers using taxpayer-funded benefits to ship food to relatives in Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Welfare recipients are buying groceries with their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards and packing them in giant barrels for the trip overseas, The Post found.
The practice is so common that hundreds of 45- to 55-gallon cardboard and plastic barrels line the walls of supermarkets in almost every Caribbean corner of the city.
The feds say the moveable feasts go against the intent of the $86 billion welfare program for impoverished Americans.
So, you come to America to make a better life for yourself, but our multi-culti sensitive system is designed to maintain your previous identity? Besides undermining the key purpose of the food stamp program (to help feed impoverished Americans), these kind of actions speak to the broader problem of assimilation, which we continue to see in many other communities.
And don't tell me we don't have an assimilation problem in America when Univision, the all-Spanish-speaking network, tops U.S. ratings among July sweeps!

CNSNews: To ensure that "every American is able to choose to live in a community they feel proud of," HUD has published a new fair-housing regulation intended to give people access to better neighborhoods than the ones they currently live in.
The goal is to help communities understand "fair housing barriers" and "establish clear goals" for "improving integrated living patterns and overcoming historic patterns of segregation."
“This proposed rule represents a 21st century approach to fair housing, a step forward to ensuring that every American is able to choose to live in a community they feel proud of – where they have a fair shot at reaching their full potential in life,” said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan.
“For the first time ever," Donovan added, "HUD will provide data for every neighborhood in the country, detailing the access African American, Latino, Asian, and other communities have to local assets, including schools, jobs, transportation, and other important neighborhood resources that can play a role in helping people move into the middle class."
No matter how much they mask it with feel-good language, these little Marxists can't help themselves with the social engineering, following one central planning failure after another, always with the same disastrous results (Cabrini-Green, Pruitt-Igoe and Brewster-Douglass projects come to mind). It's truly the definition of insanity.

But one company can celebrate a victory for now over a piece of legislation that would otherwise jeopardize the company’s religious conscience...
Townhall: Not all the pro-life victories are coming from Texas. Friday in Oklahoma City, a federal judge awarded the Christian-owned arts and crafts retail chain Hobby Lobby an exemption from the Obamacare abortion pill mandate, which would require the company to violate its religious faith by offering its employees contraceptives.
U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton issued the preliminary injunction for Hobby Lobby and its sister company, the Mardel Christian bookstore chain, and granted the case a stay until October 1, giving the federal government time to mull over an appeal. The judge’s decision comes just a month after the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the companies were likely to prevail.
The Greens’ recent victory over Obamacare is yet another defeat for the healthcare bill, which has had quite the tumultuous week. It seems that while Hobby Lobby merchandise continues to fly off the shelves, Obamacare is still proving to be a hard bargain.
Hobby Lobby is of course not alone in the struggle of faithful for-profit businesses (entities of which secular statists incessantly deny can exist within this very land founded on religious liberty). More than half of the sixty-some-odd related lawsuits challenging the unpopular birth control/abortifacient mandate come from similar companies. Hopefully this will provide another thorn in the side of bureaucrats who would trample all over our liberties for their political sake, and might also work towards an overall defeat of another Big Government monstrosity.

Breibart: On Wednesday, July 17 at about 5:45 PM Sanford Police responded to a single car accident in the area of I- 4 and State Road 46 in Sanford. A blue Ford Explorer SUV traveled off the road and rolled over. There were four occupants inside the vehicle, two parents and two children.
The deputy reported, when he arrived on the scene that one of the two men there was George Zimmerman. According to Sanford Police Zimmerman had a fire extinguisher and helped assist the family to get them out of the vehicle.
"Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash, which was why he was not referenced in the police report," a Sanford Police spokeswoman told Breitbart News. "He left after making contact with the deputy. There were no reports of injuries of any of the vehicle's occupants," she said.
An eyewitness to the accident told Breitbart News that people on the scene recognized Zimmerman and thanked him for his help before he left.
Zimmerman's location has been unknown since he was found "not guilty" of second degree murder and manslaughter of Trayvon Martin recently.
Well that's certainly one way to be the bigger man...and there's one family who's grateful that George Zimmerman got out of his vehicle!

Krauthammer called Obama’s surprise remarks on race and Martin’s death “a political speech addressed to his constituency on the left” that was disguised as a “philosophical speech addressed to the whole nation.”
Krauthammer theorized that the main purpose of Obama’s remarks was to serve as a “rhetorical fog” or “compensation” for the likelihood that the Justice Department won’t have a federal case against George Zimmerman.

DetroitNews: The city of Detroit filed the largest municipal bankruptcy case in U.S. history Thursday, culminating a decades-long slide that transformed the nation’s iconic industrial town into a model of urban decline crippled by population loss, a dwindling tax base and financial problems.
Gov. Rick Snyder justified approving the historic filing by reciting a litany of the city’s ills, including more than $18 billion in debt, maxed-out tax rates, the highest murder rate in 40 years, 78,000 abandoned buildings and a half-century of residential flight. He said the city failed to provide basic services to residents or pay creditors.
But wait...didn't Obama say during his reelection campaign that he'd never let Detroit go bankrupt. Oops.
And that bet got him through another election cycle...which is all it was ever intended to do anyway (like so much of the spend-taxpayer-money-now-to-kick-it-down-the-road attitude of the Washington Ruling Class).

This is where blue governance has brought Detroit in the end: not even a liberal Democratic administration will step in to save the pensions of thousands of public workers and African Americans, condemning countless to having their pensions and health benefits gutted in bankruptcy court.
Progressive politicians, wonks, and activists can only blame big corporations and other liberal bogeymen for so long. The truth is that corrupt machine politics in a one-party system devoted to the blue social model wrecked an entire city and thousands of lives beyond repair. The sooner blues come to terms with this reality, the greater chance other cities will have of avoiding Detroit’s fate.

FoxNews: New York Republican Rep. Peter King, the feisty former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is weighing a run for the White House, Fox News confirms.
The congressman, who has served 11 terms in the House, would join a potentially crowded and diverse field of well-known Republicans. It's too early in the cycle for any candidate to be formally announcing, but New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul are among the Republicans thought to be mulling a 2016 bid.
Speaking of that last mentioned contender, King's already taken to attacking him (if that doesn't set off a few signals, which it should, folks!)...

"I don’t entirely disagree with King’s comments with respect to Rand Paul, but he does sell him short in a lot of ways. I agree Rand Paul is no hawk and is somewhat naive on the Islamic threat facing us, but that doesn’t mean he is an isolationist. Ever since Paul gave his big foreign policy speech, it’s been apparent to me that he is somewhere between the isolationist polices of his father and the hawkish policies of someone like John Bolton. He understands what he calls ‘radical Islam’ to a pretty good degree, but he also believes we can and should negotiate with Iran to stop them from getting nukes. That is a very naive position and ignorant of the last decade of ‘negotiations’ with Iran.
But Ted Cruz? I’ve never heard anything from Cruz to suggest he was anything other than a hawk. I think King just throws him in the mix because he hates Ted Cruz and doesn’t want to see him become president.
All of that said, there is no way I’m voting for a big government Republican like Peter King. If he is the answer then the problem is too big to be solved."
I favor the Texan...and it's not just because I'm here! TED CRUZ is the more consistent, constitutional conservative of the two, in both principle and voting record (just check the latter out here and here). But any way you slice it, either would be a better conservative choice than Peter King or any of the other previously mentioned miscreants.

HuffPo: Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) claims he thinks former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D) would "destroy" some of his Republican peers in a potential 2016 matchup.
“I think she’s very strong on foreign policy, and I think that if we nominate someone from our isolationist wing of the party, she’ll destroy them,” King said. "We need somebody that can stand up to her."
King said he's "not a fan" of Cruz, labeling him an "isolationist" and saying he has a "bad image for the party." King also offered his views on a number of other Republicans seen as potential 2016 contenders, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
This guy's certainly no conservative...just another RINO that the Northeast seems to be churning out by the dozen these days. What's up with that?
If there's one positive that we might pull out of a statist regime in control, it's that we get a genuine opportunity to weed out these weak links in the opposition, because the masks are certainly flying off...by their own hand!

Another act of coercion by the Obama administration. What else is new? Well, that this tactic was used on the survivors of the Benghazi terror attack, that's what's new. Congressman Wolf of Virginia stated on the House floor yesterday that they were forced to sign non-disclosure agreements. Stunning.
WHD: Veteran Republican Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia said on the floor of the House [yesterday] that Benghazi survivors and others were forced to sign non-disclosure agreements about the attacks last Sept. 11.
He says he has “trusted sources” attesting to this. What’s more, it makes complete sense.
Benghazi is the scandal that unquestionably touches the White House. There is still much we don’t know, and this may give us some indication why we don’t know it.
FoxNews: Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., is calling on the Obama administration to explain why the survivors of last year's deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya, were reportedly asked to sign non-disclosure agreements that prevent them from talking about the attack.
In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and CIA Director John Brennan, Wolf said his office has received reports that some survivors of the attack were asked to sign the confidentiality agreement as recently as this summer.
"If these reports are accurate, it would raise serious questions about additional restrictions the State Department has placed on those with knowledge of the Benghazi attacks," Wolf said in the letter. "I also worry about the impact of any [non-disclosure agreements] on congressional efforts to understand fully what happened that night and why the agency responded as it did."
The MSM may want to take the 'what difference does it make' approach, holding no one (uhum, Hillary! Obama!) accountable, but nearing a year later, this still hasn't gone away.

Justifiable Law. One which Breitbart explains should survive legal challenge...
Breitbart: Today Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed into law a pro-life bill which will very likely be upheld by the Supreme Court. The law disallows most abortions after 20 weeks, the point by which an unborn child can fully feel physical pain and therefore would actually experience the agony of dying during the abortion procedure.
It also requires the doctor performing the abortion to be credentialed to admit patients at a local hospital, so if anything goes wrong during the abortion the doctor can personally get the mother immediate medical attention.
This law—or one of the other 20-week abortion laws that have recently been enacted and are being challenged in court—is very likely to be upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Citing a 1992 court case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, in which the Court revisited abortion, ruling that 'abortion is not a fundamental right such as free speech, religious liberty, or the right to own a gun,' regulations and restrictions on abortion came into play...
The test for abortion cases is whether the law imposes an “undue burden” on a woman seeking abortion before the child could live outside the womb (which has been at 24 weeks in recent years, but with advances in medicine that line continues to move sooner in the pregnancy). After that point—called “viability”—Casey allows abortion to be completely banned so long as the pregnancy does not endanger the life or health of the mother.
Breitbart then cites the makeup of the current Court to show how the TX law is likely to be upheld...
Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Anthony Kennedy were the key votes in Casey. Of the two, O’Connor was pro-abortion and Kennedy leans against abortion. With the solidly-conservative Samuel Alito taking O’Connor’s seat in 2006, the new reality is that any abortion restriction that is good enough for Kennedy should survive a court challenge.
This Texas law (or one of its counterparts in Wisconsin or another state) will show whether this theory is correct. If you carefully study Kennedy’s jurisprudence—not only regarding abortion but many other issues as well—it seems Kennedy does not like the idea of completely shutting the door on federal courts saying women can abort their pregnancies—but wants to leave the door cracked open, not wide open.
If that is true, this law and many other restrictions should be upheld. One of these laws should be before the Supreme Court in the next 18 months, with a decision by summer 2015.
The fact is, the Supreme Court should not be the end-all-be-all in any decision, right or left. These 5-4 decisions, where a mere single justice determines the fate of law for over 300 million of us, are as far from the Framers' vision of constitutional republican governance, as the prevalence in its thwarting by the statists and their enablers today. That being said, one can only hope for the sake of the innocent, that late term abortion in America meets the same fate as partial-birth abortion...until one day, America on whole might once again respect the unequivocal sanctity of Life.

TPM: House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Wednesday backed the principles of the DREAM Act, which provides a path to citizenship to those who were brought to the United States illegally as children.
"This is about basic fairness," he told reporters. "These children were brought here by no accord of their own, and frankly they're in a very difficult position. And I think many of our members believe that this issue needs to be address."
"It's an issue of decency, of compassion," said House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA). "Where else would these kids go?"
House Republicans are considering legislation that reflects the ideas of the DREAM Act as part of other piecemeal immigration reform measures.
What about border security first? What about legal residents seeking citizenship, legally? These two and their cohorts could care less.
And I have to ask, did any of you in Ohio and Virginia, or any other state for that matter, vote for this crap? Boehner has utterly squandered his speakership, and the same can be said of Cantor's so-called leadership.

On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show: Mark is fed up with the Republican Party leadership because there is no one there that is looking out for us. The Democrats have done so much damage to the country and the Republican's haven't taken advantage of any of it, and in many cases have gone along with it. Mark says that Speaker Boehner is a sell out, that he's been cutting deals with the Democrats, and that he hasn't been doing the right thing. He doesn't stand for us or represent any of our best interests. We shouldn't be asking our representatives to represent us; they should stop acting like they are celebrities and do their job. Mark discusses the Dream Act, pathway to citizenship and backdoor amnesty, all of which is being pushed by our Senate and some in our House. Boehner has the power of the purse in the House and won't use it to stop any of these programs from happening.
