3 A.M. came...and nobody answered the phone...
Damnable.
As if all the other troubling news that's come to light throughout the day on the attacks in Egypt and Libya wasn't enough, now we receive word that though the confrontation may have been imminent, the American deaths involved could have been avoided if the State Department would have acted...
TheIndependent: According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.
What the hell, man?!
There was also a report from the Jerusalem Post on Tuesday (9/11) that stated Egypt's General Intelligence Service was warned that Sinai- and Gaza-based Global Jihad cells were planning to launch terrorist attacks against our embassy (as well as Israel's) in Cairo from a letter obtained on September 4th. Hard to believe our guys didn't get the memo.
On top of that, the Obama administration is in a crisis over sensitive documents that have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi, some of which divulge the names of Libyans who have been working with Americans in the country, putting them at potential risk from Islamist retaliation.
Also, we're now finding out that the supposedly secret location of that 'safe house' in the city, where the staff had retreated, came under sustained mortar attack. That doesn't sound like a skirmish with random protesters, now does it?
Of course, the Obama administration is flatly denying that the U.S. diplomats in Libya were killed as a result of a “continuing security breach,” and that “credible information” about possible attacks had been ignored.
This news broke during Levin's program, and he went nuclear over this enraging report, asking if the media might finally question President Obama and Sec. of State Clinton, instead of constantly trying to destroy Romney's campaign. It might help if Obama actual attend most of his freakin' intelligence briefings too, instead of skipping them...
Priorities, people!
