Andrew Breitbart dead at 43

Wow, I was thrust into shock this morning as soon as I got into my car and turned the radio on. Conservative writer and activist Andrew Breitbart has died of natural causes at the young age of 43.

Breitbart.tv/Big Government/Big Journalism/Big Hollywood: With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

"I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies."

"Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night."

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

Rest in peace, young warrior, rest in peace.

ADDENDUM: Here's the happy warrior's last big public appearance at CPAC...

Rush opened Thursday's program with a moving remembrance of Andrew Breitbart:

Gutfeld, Hannity, Palin, Levin and (Jonah) Goldberg released statements Thursday morning as well, via theRightScoop.

"From time to time...one of our generals will fall for one reason or another. It's just the way it is. God does what he chooses to do. We can't control the future; we can't control these circumstances, as much as we would like to. But we can, to some extent, control our own lives. And so, it's important to learn from this, and frankly, to be inspired by [Andrew]." ~ Mark Levin

A few Congress members even made certain that the far reaches of Andrew Breitbart's influence would be immortalized in the record books through these eulogies given from Capitol Hill...

"Thank you, dear God, for sharing this extraordinary gift that was Andrew Breitbart with us. We did not get to keep our gift nearly as long as we wanted, but we are so grateful for such a marvelous gift." ~ Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX)

"There was no stopping Andrew Breitbart from fighting the good fight with every fiber of his soul. Good bye and God bless, Brother Andrew. You are loved and mourned and ever remembered." ~ Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI)
