CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS PLAN to unveil legislation expanding the size of the Supreme Court on Thursday, according to three congressional sources familiar with the closely held measure.

The bill would add four seats to the high court, bringing the total to 13 from the current nine. The bill is led by House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler, subcommittee Chair Hank Johnson, and first-term Rep. Mondaire Jones. In the Senate, the bill is being championed by Ed Markey of Massachusetts.

Republicans and legal purists decry the idea as “court-packing” and say it will undo the court’s historical insulation from politics.

Biden previously opposed adding seats.

In the 1930s, President Franklin D. Roosevelt unsuccessfully sought to expand the court after conservative justices ruled against some of his New Deal policies.

I hope they run on this next year. So bad. Because I believe it will be a political bloodbath in the House and the Senate with Republicans taking them both back in good numbers.

As I’ve pointed out before, both Manchin and Sinema oppose expanding the Supreme Court and getting rid of the filibuster. Short of a few Republican traitors joining the ranks of Democrats on a bill like this, it doesn’t stand a chance of passing.

Which makes it even more ridiculous that Democrats would even introduce it and politically risk so much before next year’s election.

But hey, more power to them. The polls clearly indicated last year that this is a big fat loser.

This should be unquestionably fended off, but it should also bite'em in the ass come the 2022 midterms (if we can count on free & fair elections).
