Civility? Sooo last month!

Last month, Obama and many on the Left began trumpeting a call for more civility in the tone of debate across the nation. This was obviously, and still is, in response to the vast criticism of not only the administration’s policies, but the leftist shift in our governing bodies that the majority of Americans do not subscribe to, and that those on the Left wish not to be criticized for. One such charge that has been decontextualized to nearly the point of meaninglessness is that of racism. Yes, this charge still has its place in certain circumstances, but the disturbing trend of misuse, miscommunication, and ‘jumping to conclusions’ has broadened immensely over the past decade or more.

What I’d like to focus on, as pertains to this lightning rod of controversy, is the liberal’s double standard that we’re frequently observing during the current calls of ‘civility’. On the national stage, we continue to see the blanket charge of racism, among others, made by politicians and media elites alike against grassroots movements, like the tea party, that criticize the Obama administration, with no call for accountability. Criticism leveled not against skin tone, but against radical policies, continues to be passed over or simply ignored by the media intelligentsia. Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen this trend trickle down to the local level; and while I can’t give every instance, here’s a couple of the more disturbing one’s that are sure to be obfuscated and excused:

To this day, even the NAACP refuses to directly address the racism leveled against Clarence Thomas by these ‘peace loving’ progressives, which furthers the narrative that charges of racism only matter when leveled against liberals. Afterall, conservatives can’t be discriminated against, can they?

Here’s one a little closer to home and even more recent:

Note: the camera man gasp, “Wow.” immediately following Price's comment.

I think one of the local talk show hosts, Mark Davis, did a great job in expressing the outrage and double standard that exists in this particular altercation:

But with both of these examples, and with many more unmentioned, the liberal double standard persists to protect such individuals from appropriate scrutiny, and the dream of equality that Dr. King spoke so often of is further degraded. Obviously in today’s society, civility, as does the charge of racism, is only applicable towards those of a conservative persuasion. Shameful.
