Some wholly informative ammunition for the midterms and beyond

As the midterms ramp up, or really any election these days, it's always interesting to see how Republicans, or God forbid actual conservatives, are vehemently demonized while Democratic candidates, whether liberals or leftists, are bizarrely sainted. And if you dare question their manufactured status, you're not only called a rainbow assortment of names, but you're also being told that you're just uneducated on the candidate, you're not hearing the whole story. Take Beto for example in the U.S. Senate race for Texas, the young, charismatic, progressive state legislator who's seeking to oust our staunchly principled, yet constantly maligned conservative junior senator. So, I decided that I'd take my liberal friends' advice, and go outside that crazy right-wing media, and look for something a little more even-keeled in everyday media (don't laugh). Well, I found something on the pro-left public media forum, and... yeah, I think I'm still good with Cruz!
HPM: Beto O’Rourke is an unapologetic, unabashed liberal, who’s shown no interest in moving toward the political middle after his victory in the Texas Democratic primary.

On issues like universal health care, an assault weapons ban, abortion rights and raising the minimum wage, O’Rourke has staked out progressive positions. The Democrat even raised the specter of impeachment after President Trump’s Helsinki press conference with Vladimir Putin — although O’Rourke has since walked back that position some.

When it comes to the critical issue of immigration, the two Texas candidates for Senate couldn’t be further apart. Last week in Temple, Cruz indicated he supports ending birthright citizenship telling the crowd, “It doesn’t make a lot of sense.” O’Rourke is against building a wall along the border and favors a gradual path to legal status for undocumented immigrants.

“I think the decision he’s made is run hard left and find every liberal in the state of Texas, and energize them enough that they show up and vote,” Cruz said in an interview with NPR. “And I think he’s gambling on there are enough people on the left for whom defeating and destroying Donald Trump is their number-one issue, that he’s hoping that’s his path to victory. I don’t see that in the state of Texas. In Texas, there are a whole lot more conservatives than liberals.”
I certainly hope (and PRAY) so. But aside from the race itself (which I still don't agree that any Senate race should be the popularity contest they've turned into, as I'm a firm advocate of repealing the 17th Amendment and returning to the Framers' original intent), that piece got me to thinking about a number of these issues that have become sacrosanct to leftists and liberals alike, as well as some of the appropriate and wholly informative ammunition that conservatives should utilize in combating these deceptive narratives...

"universal health care"

"an assault weapons ban"

"abortion rights"

"raising the minimum wage"

"the critical issue of immigration"

You may have noticed that I kept separating liberals and leftists earlier. There was a reason for that too...

"Dear Liberals: Conservatives are not your enemy...the Left is."

Please give that, and all of this really, some critical thought come election day, recalling the sacred oath of the Framers to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
