Oh, look, BenghaziGate is not just back in business, but out in the open!
The week after the Obama administration abandons its 'moderate rebel' training program in Syria, Dear Leader turns around and air-drops 50 TONS of small arms to so-called rebels in Syria...have at it guys!
Obviously, Obama's still devoted to his Arab Spring mentality of MidEast dictator removal (because that's worked so well so far). Never mind Assad being a more stable entity than the chaos a radical caliphate brings, never mind that we really don't know who these 'rebels' are and that these weapons are landing into the hands of terrorists, never mind that the US was gun-running thru Benghazi to Syria, and never mind the Russians operating in the region now. On behalf of the U.S., the Obama administration has literally tossed TONS of firearms and ammunition into that powder keg and hoping for the best! Remember, this is the same guy who wants to quash our Second Amendment rights here at home. What a role reversal when his foreign policies, and ultimately his legacy, is on the line.
Lawlessness begets lawlessness...and in Obama's case, the floodgates are open! So when an imperial president's insatiable appetite for power and control is not constrained by Congress, yes, he'll even violate his own law...
FoxNews: Some senior U.S. officials involved in the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal have privately concluded that a key sanctions relief provision – a concession to Iran that will open the doors to tens of billions of dollars in U.S.-backed commerce with the Islamic regime – conflicts with existing federal statutes and cannot be implemented without violating those laws...
At issue is a passage tucked away in ancillary paperwork attached to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, as the Iran nuclear deal is formally known. Specifically, Section 5.1.2 of Annex II provides that in exchange for Iranian compliance with the terms of the deal, the U.S. “shall…license non-U.S. entities that are owned or controlled by a U.S. person to engage in activities with Iran that are consistent with this JCPOA.”
In short, this means that foreign subsidiaries of U.S. parent companies will, under certain conditions, be allowed to do business with Iran. The problem is that the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act (ITRA), signed into law by President Obama in August 2012, was explicit in closing the so-called “foreign sub” loophole.
Joe Cunningham further exposes the flagrant lawlessness of the Obama administration...
RedState: It’s one thing for the president to use executive privilege and run to the U.N. in order to avoid an actual treaty fight in the Senate – he knows he can’t win in Congress at all – but it’s another to violate federal law in order to give a nation that openly sponsors terrorism billions of U.S. dollars in order to secure a legacy. But, Barack Obama is his own man, and he will not listen to the poor judgment of other men, like this Barack Obama guy that signed such a foolish provision into law in 2012.
That it’s the White House’s own people admitting this is a foul-up is even better, in that we get to see that they know what they are doing is not at all legal, and they don’t care. They want Iran to have some money and let them stabilize the Middle East locally, so that the evil, imperialist United States doesn’t interfere in the affairs of the outside world. Because of this mentality, “slip-ups” like this occur. The White House won’t alter its course, and things will be able to go ahead without prosecution because this administration believes more in itself than it does actual law.
Rush set forth a great premise this morning, "If the Republicans are imploding over Kevin McCarthy, why aren't the Drive-Bys happy about it?" PRECISELY!
Can you believe the future Speaker of the House having an affair? Bob Livingston, Newt Gingrich, this guy, McCarthy. You know, it's about time this becomes a resume enhancement for us instead of something that wipes us out. Something like this happens on the left, it's a big time resume enhancement. It proves that they're hip. It proves that they're pro-women. (laughing) It proves that they're virile. It proves that they're attractive to women and so forth. But on our side it does nothing but destroy us. I know -- I know -- I understand why. But this whole story, this is easy for me to say, and you are free to think that I am doing a snow job here, but I'm not. You're free to think what you want, and you may get mad at me telling you this. Snerdley sent me a note last night as though this is the first he was hearing about this.
Are you kidding me, you had not heard about this affair until yesterday? This is years-old stuff. I mean, this is the kind of stuff rumors -- I just totally stay away from it because it's all gonna come out in the wash anyway at some point. The interesting thing about this is the Drive-By Media is acting like all of Washington's been turned upside down. You know, the lesson to learn here is that Kevin McCarthy and Renee Ellmers, uh, did I say something that's not known yet? (interruption) I did? (interruption) Oh, they're denying this? (interruption) Oh, really, denials? (interruption) Oh. Okay, well, then I guess what I've known about for many, many months is not true. Forget it. I'm sorry. (interruption) They're denying it?
Well, anyway, what I was gonna say, folks, the Drive-By Media acting like this is totally shaking up -- why isn't the media acting happy? Why isn't the media ecstatic that the Republicans are imploding this way, instead of why are they worried the Republicans are imploding? Have you figured that out? Has that hit you in that regard yet? What it should tell you is that McCarthy obviously is a Washington insider and his fall from grace as future Speaker obviously is bad news to the insiders or the establishment in Washington, both parties, and the reason for that is it is perceived that Ted Cruz and the House Conservative Caucus are behind this, these Tea Party yokels, and it is viewed as these upstart conservatives taking control of the House, and they're outsiders.
So you see that the insider elites are bound together not by ideology, but by class. If they were bound together by ideology there wouldn't be a Republican in the establishment in Washington, there wouldn't be a Republican lead allowed in. But the establishment in Washington is made up of people of both parties. The people not in it are conservatives, but Republicans, moderate level Republicans, liberal Republicans, communist Republicans, and all Democrats are in the establishment. Conservative Republicans aren't. Conservative Republicans, it is said, have claimed a scalp here, and they might also get Renee Ellmers.
What it boils down to is it's these forces versus the voters. ... They're afraid of us. Nobody wants it for the very reason Boehner's leaving the job. What is the reason Boehner's leaving the job? We have to assume here the reason Boehner's leaving the job is he doesn't like being criticized. These guys forget they committed things to us when they ran for office.
They told us they were conservative. They told us they were gonna stop Obama. They made a great point of this. They told us to rest easy. Mitch McConnell did it, every one of them said it. They know that that's what they were elected to do. They campaigned on some variation of the premise that they were serious, they were gonna stop Obama, but they don't, and they haven't, and they haven't really seriously tried. And apparently they're not going to. There isn't anybody who wants to take the job with the realization that he's gonna be at odds with the voters for the rest of the term.
So how committed are these establishment types? You know, I think what it points out or what it illustrates is that the inside the Washington Beltway establishment really doesn't care about voters and public opinion and all that and doesn't even want to have to deal with it. And whoever's in this position is gonna get the brunt of the criticism. In the old days, and it wasn't that long ago, folks, when a political party was the loser of a presidential election, or other elections, that party would honestly assess where it had gone wrong with the voters and would attempt to make it right with the voters.
By that I mean the party would attempt, even if it was just for show, they would attempt to change or modify their beliefs in order to be relevant to the voters because it was the voters who determined who won. And what's changed is, as far as these guys are concerned, it's the donors who determine who wins, and, therefore, it's the donors to whom they have to be loyal, not voters. They don't even want to go through the motions. So now there's not even any pretense of mollifying the voters.
And that's pretty damn apparent with Boehner staying until HE can make HIS new favored pick, which seems to be a lean towards another bad choice in Paul Ryan (along with the Beltway elite of WSJ and National Review).
Breitbart: Staying through mid-December would allow Boehner to preside over upcoming votes on the debt ceiling, the omnibus spending bill, the solution to fix sequestration, the tax extenders bill, and a divisive highway bill. It will also give Boehner time to help pick out a new front-runner to pick up his gavel and to remain influential in the selection of his successor.
It's time for conservatives to come together and unite behind a singular draft and give the Drive-Bys something to really talk about while putting our nation back on track starting in the House.
Just consider and really THINK about this and the inherent fundamental transformation wrought on a country, our country, from border to border, from sea to shining sea. Don't be deceived. This is an erasure...
Language is the glue that holds a society together. If you’re going to read any legally binding contract or understand the Constitution, you need to know English, yet 1 in 5 U.S. residents speak a language other than English at home. There is no intention for any assimilation to occur or for deportation either. In fact, the Obama administration has deported the fewest number of illegal aliens in the last 12 months since 2006. The citizenry own this country, not politicians or foreigners that find their way here illegally. If we start enforcing existing immigration laws there won’t be a need to “round them up” – once the word spreads that laws are being enforced we won’t have to round anyone up. ~ ML, 10/6/15
Our government imports too many people from third world countries who don’t speak English, while concurrently stifling the admission of more people from countries where our Founding Fathers originated. Can you put two and two together, and understand the loathsome change? Loading up state after state with unassimilated, non-citizens, changing our culture, our principles, our society from within by importing those without, and providing a replacement citizenry for a political elite who's no longer beholden to the People or the Principles our nation was founded upon.
Our government works overtime to import people into America for pure political power, not for the good of the country. President Obama’s agenda isn’t for the hard-working, law abiding citizens. We have an administration releasing violent criminals from prison, unable to determine if Syrian refugees are dangerous, and allowing sanctuary cities to exist; the sick world of the left is getting more dangerous each day. ~ ML, 10/7/15
How much longer can we, the citizenry, allow ourselves to be subjected to this prolonged maltreatment and simultaneously maintain our civil society?
RUSH: Do you know what the fastest growing language in the United States is? Nope. It’s Arabic. Fastest growing, not the most spoken. “Fastest Growing Language in the United States Is Arabic.” Here’s another headline: “World’s First Lesbian Bishop Calls for Church to Remove Crosses and to Install Muslim Prayer Space Instead.” There is a creep, creep, creep, creep, creep that is happening throughout Western nations, Western cultures, and Western civilization countries.
It is a creep, creep, creep, creep, creep through various means. Illegal immigration, normal immigration, intimidation, political correctness, what have you. But Western civilizations are pretty much in the process of erasing themselves, in my view, anyway. The people who wish to erase Western civilization in many cases are not even firing a shot. Some are, such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda and all that, but the legal immigrants are not firing a shot. La Raza’s not firing a shot. A number of the domestic upheavals in this country are happening not because of any kind of force. They’re happening because of political correctness, fear, intimidation, you name it.
ADDENDUM: Also, I think this illustration accurately encapsulates the essence of what our European brethren are allowing to upend their sphere of Western civilization...and we don't need it!
Share the sentiment, Mr. Hannan. Once again, one of the few remaining British statesmen provides a refreshing voice of reason...just think about it and consider, folks.
TRS: Daniel Hannan isn’t just talking about Donald Trump when he says America can do better and that the world expects better, he’s also talking about Bernie Sanders. He says that either a Trump or Sanders presidency slightly terrifies him. But with regard to Trump, he really doesn’t like his demeanor as a crass attention seeker. He trusts that our primary system here will eventually weed out the likes of Sanders and Trump and produce a much better candidate for president.
Now, on a positive note towards Trump, I do think the guy loves America, unlike Sanders or, well, pretty much the entirety of the modern Democratic Party, along with an unfortunate quantity of quisling Republicans (the latter of which we're hopefully starting to see weeded out!). But like so many things in life, it takes more than love to turn things around. It also takes principle.
And what many of us still believe is possible to find in a candidate is articulate, principled conservatism. Whether that be in exposing the unwillingness of the Sierra Club to accept scientific data, or disarming the liberal ladies of the View, or just coming up with a more reasonable tax plan for the nation. What it's not is pronouncing eminant domain as 'Wonderful!' Choose wisely, America.
OMG! This is HUGE news for those who'd like to see the Republican Party in the House united behind someone with some semblance of principle, instead of another establishment crony...
MCCARTHY OUT. Drops out of race for speaker. Election postponed.
Those tow-the-line members of the House who were supporting McCarthy remain STUNNED by the announcement. Conservatives REJOICE!
While the lib media loses its mind for the moment, it's time for conservatives in the House to put on their big boy pants and get down to business rallying behind a singular statesman.
On Thursday’s Mark Levin Show, Kevin McCarthy has withdrawn from the race to become John Boehner’s successor as Speaker of the House because he didn’t have enough votes. What’s going on in the House right now doesn’t threaten the future of the GOP; it’s not chaos or anarchy like the media wants us to believe it is. Conservatives are the only principled people in Washington trying to legitimately change the leadership in the Republican Party, using the system to change the system. It’s not about saving the country or the GOP, but about advancing the constitutional conservative cause – the American cause – and laying out the case to the American people. If Republicans in Washington were responsive to the people that voted them into power in the last election we wouldn’t be in the situation we’re in today.
"They don't have the Constitution on their side; they don't have the facts on their side"
Levin discussed a recent HotAir piece from Jazz Shaw that tells the TRUTH about gun deaths in America, as opposed to the media propaganda spewed by the bought-and-paid-for gov't mouthpieces we call journalists today...
When the President went on television after the Oregon college mass shooting he issued a challenge to the media. He asked them to show America the number of gun deaths as compared to the number of terrorism related deaths since the 9/11 attacks. The media dutifully complied and soon every network, newspaper and magazine was putting up startling graphics, such as this one tweeted by CNN.
First of all, look at the number of gun deaths on that chart from 2011. It’s 32,351. That’s a lot of gun deaths to be sure. So that’s the total number of murders by gun owners, right? The answer is not only Hell No, but it’s not even remotely close. It’s true that this figure is close to the total number of human lives ended in incidents involving a gun, but that’s all incidents. So how did those deaths happen?
Straight from the CDC where most of the media is drawing their numbers (while not as good of a source as the FBI or the Justice Department) we can find out that of those 32,352 gun deaths, 21,175 of them were suicides. That leaves us with 11,177 deaths to account for. But as it turns out, the FBI records that 8,583 deaths were murders of various sorts involving guns of all types. The remaining roughly 2,500 were accounted for by accidents and unintentional injuries. These include hunting accidents, toddlers getting hold of unsecured weapons and shooting somebody or just plain idiots who proved Darwin right.
Before we move on, those FBI numbers deserve a closer look for a moment since we’re on the subject. What sorts of guns are used in actual crimes? I bring this up because each mass shooting elicits renewed calls for an “assault weapons” ban on guns like the AR-15 style rifle. Are those popular in crimes? Check out the figures from the FBI report.
Take a good look at those numbers. Of the actual 8,583 gun murders committed in 2011, 323 were committed with “rifles.” And that’s all rifles, including bolt action, deer hunting rifles and all the rest. The number committed with so called “assault rifles” were a fraction of that. When you ask how dangerous those rifles are, compare that to nearly 1,700 who were stabbed as well as nearly 500 murdered with blunt objects and more than 700 beaten to death by somebody with their bare hands. Enough said on that topic.
So we’re down to 8,583 intentional killings using guns. That’s still one heck of a lot of bodies, and surely enough to justify new background checks and other restrictions on legal gun purchases, right? Again… not even close. The Justice Department has been studying the question of legal vs. illegal sources of guns used in crimes for decades, going back to this study issued in the early nineties. They admit that the numbers are simply too hard to track for us to pin down exact figures, but the trends are steady over the years. The vast majority of guns used in crimes were gotten through illegal means outside the legal purchase regimen followed by law abiding gun owners. Roughly one quarter of inmates convicted of gun crimes admitted to having stolen a gun in that study. For the ones that weren’t stolen directly, another 2004 study showed that 40% of convicts bought their guns on the black market and another 37% got them through the “gray market” in various illegal methods.
In fact, one study after another has shown that legally purchased weapons which followed all the normal firearms transfer rules accounted for somewhere between six and eight percent of all murders. And the majority of those were domestic violence incidents, violence between family members, crimes of passion and, yes… murders committed by the insane. But let’s give the gun grabbers the benefit of the doubt, round it up and say that ten percent were committed with legally purchases guns. That works out to around 850.
850 is too many people, but it’s a far cry from more than 32,000 per year.
Insightful, huh?! Well, Mr. Shaw doesn't stop there. Along with explaining the facts that this President and his Media hordes don't want you to understand, we're also provided with basic, thoughtful solutions to the real problems. Allow me to summarize them:
1.) Since most gun deaths are suicides, we must address the seriousness of mental illness in our country. That's not gun control; that's discovering constructive ways, through help and counseling (and perhaps here's where legislative means should focus), to assist in working through the hopelessness and despair, while maintaining dignity and avoiding a violent way out (well before it ever comes to that irrationale).
2.) Increased public education in responsible gun ownership can continue to counter the accidents that account for far too many deaths, as well as reduce the number of guns stolen by thieves from homes and automobiles.
3.) ENFORCE THE LAWS WE ALREADY HAVE! (we've heard this one in countless border discussions) Criminals committing murders and other crimes with guns account for the lion's share of actual 'violence'. When they illegally acquire a weapon, that's already illegal. If any 'gun-grabbing' is going to take place, don't you think this is where it should be focused? Not by restricting our law enforcement officers, but by enabling them with the resources to remove the gun from the criminal's hand before it's used in a murder. These laws already exist on the books; they're just not enforced.
Here's another stark reality that we've become far too accustomed to: Many liberals/progressives/statists don't seem to want to take these basic steps towards correcting the actual problems they feign outrage over. Rather, they seem to only be interested in an excuse to flush the Second Amendment down the social justice drain, while setting up more Americans to be victimized by the criminally sane and insane...
"Gun-free zones are not crime-free zones. Gun-free zones are not killer-free zones. They're honey to the bees! There's no such thing, ladies and gentlemen, as a gun-free zone. Criminals bring guns into gun-free zones; they bring other weapons into gun-free zones. They're self-defense-free zones. That's what they are."
Was this another case of mental derangement that our bastions of liberalism don't seem to want to address (perhaps because their policies may have something to do with the depravity and desperation)? Or was this something far worse? According to multiple reports, this piece of excrement was targeting Christians...
NYTimes: Kortney Moore, 18, from Rogue River, Ore., was in her Writing 115 class at Snyder Hall when she heard a shot come through a window.
She said she watched as her teacher was shot in the head. The gunman was inside the building at that point, she said, and was ordering people to get on the ground.
Ms. Moore said the the man asked people to stand up and state their religion, and then he began firing.
BNONews: The gunman who opened fire at Umpqua Community College in Oregon asked victims to state their religion before opening fire, according to multiple reports. An 18-year-old student told the News-Review newspaper that the gunman, after shooting her teacher in the head through a window, told people to get on the ground. He then told people to stand up and state their religion before opening fire. Twitter user @BodhiLooney, who said her grandma was at the school, said the shooter asked people if they were Christian. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head,” she wrote. “If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.”
CNSNews: According to father of a wounded student, the 26-year-old man who shot and killed ten people at a community college in Oregon singled out Christians for execution.
The gunman also expressed interest in recent mass murders and the attention they brought the shooter, noting in one blog post, "The more people you kill, the more you are in the limelight."
Mercer admired black gay killer Vester Flanagan who shot the reporter and cameraman on live T.V.:
In a blog linked to that identity, Harper-Mercer expressed admiration for Roanoke shooter Vester Flanagan.
People “like him have nothing left to live for,” Harper-Mercer wrote on August 31. “On an interesting note, I have noticed that so many people like him are all alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are. … A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight.“
Oh, and this tidbit was released Friday afternoon...
NBCNews: The heavily armed gunman who slaughtered nine people at an Oregon college left a hate-filled note at the scene of his rampage and “felt the world was against him,” law enforcement officials confirmed Friday.
Two officials familiar with the contents of the note say 26-year-old Christopher Harper Mercer, who was killed in a firefight Thursday with police at Umpqua Community College, wrote that he would be “welcomed in Hell and embraced by the devil.”
Sick. And if this isn't a mental case -- being so obsessed with hatred towards Christianity that he calculates how to go out in a murderous rampage, killing Believers to assure his fate in Hell -- then I don't know what is.
Yet, like clockwork, this White House uses a maniac's massacre to push for more gun control legislation on the law-abiding. While the bodies are still warm, the classless Oval Office resident politicizes to the hilt and encourages his media sycophants to follow suit...
More Gun Free Zones (like this one!), except for the bad buys? No common sense discussions and accommodations for mental illness checks. While the NSA is spying on everyone, while the government has taken over the internet, you'd think there would be some kind of preventative allotment for identifying these deranged individuals while they're discussing killing across social media BEFORE they kill? Nope, none of that. Just gotta disarm the citizenry. Meanwhile, let's nuke up Iran and continue aborting the unborn...
You see, it's not about the people who died in another horrific occurrence. After all, these were just Christians, right? It's not even about the heroes (here and here) who prevented further murder and mayhem. No, no, it's only, and always, about Barack Hussein Obama's agenda.
There were more than 50 shootings in Chicago over the past two weekends. Somehow that never gets talked about. We never, ever hear it. The president never goes out and says a word about the mass murders that are happening in American cities. Gang-related shootings do not warrant presidential attention for some reason, and they are vastly outnumbering whatever’s happening on school campuses. But again, I think the primary point here to make to anybody who starts squawking about needing gun control, is you tell ’em: “We got it! It’s a gun-free zone. Everything you want, you had it right there on that campus. Every person that got shot did not have a gun.”
Who knows if the members of miscreants and despots in this increasingly world dominant organization were moved by such a powerful moment, but they certainly deserve to be shamed more often for their appeasement to tyranny that this body's modern incarnation has devolved into...
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blasted the United Nations and its member governments on Thursday for their “utter silence” on Iran’s threats to his country’s people and existence, and paused for almost a minute while he stared silently around the room.
Netanyahu, speaking at the UN General Assembly, listed various threats to Israel’s security made by top Iranian leaders, and called out the UN for endorsing the Iran nuclear deal in the face of anti-Israeli sentiments.
“Seventy years after the murder of 6 million Jews, Iran’s rulers promise to destroy my country, murder my people; and the response from this body — the response from nearly every one of the governments represented here — has been absolutely nothing,” a defiant Netanyahu said. “Utter silence. Deafening silence.”
TRS: Given the collapse of Obama’s idiotic foreign policy in Syria in the last few days, it’s good to see some strong leadership from ANYONE in the West.
Here's Netanyahu’s full speech that's definitely worth checking out:
On Wednesday while talking to a caller, Rush Limbaugh identified which GOP candidate voters ought to choose if they want someone who is 'the most steadfastly opposed to liberalism.' The natural choice...
Accompanying this sentiment on the same day, the Cruz campaign announced a Texas-sized slate of supporters!
HoustonChronicle: Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, aiming for a big moment in the Texas presidential primary next March, announced a broad slate of Lone Star State supporters on Wednesday.
Cruz's Houston-based presidential campaign rolled out an endorsement list of 36 state representatives and five state senators, likely the largest declared contingent of Texas lawmakers so far in the contest for the GOP nomination.
They join Texas U.S. Reps. Randy Weber, Louie Gohmert, Michael Burgess, John Culberson, John Ratcliffe, and Brian Babin in endorsing Cruz.
Unlike in recent presidential elections, Texas voters will be weighing in early enough in the primaries (March 1) to actually make a difference, giving Cruz home field advantage...
A Cruz campaign aide noted that they now have won over a third of the GOP caucus in the Texas House.
Momentum. #CRUZ2016
ADDENDUM: Sen. Cruz phoned into Levin on Friday to talk about all the issues of the day...
