Cruzing beyond the beltway muck

Factoring in polls and future (re)elections as mitigating factors, it takes a great deal of effort to miss how this brand of genuine conservatism...

...is FINALLY beginning to have a profound effect on subpar Republican leadership...

And this is precisely why both the Democratic Left and the go-along establishment of the Right HATE Ted Cruz. He's a genuine UNIFIER!

You can't trip up the real deal, whether it's the abrasive Candy Crowley from the liberal perspective (who can pick herself up off the floor now!)...

or the inside-Republican stance from the more pleasant Megyn Kelly...

Ted Cruz traverses beyond the hyperbolic beltway clog...something we haven't seen in quite sometime.

DESPICABLE: Obama kicks Lake Mead residents out of their homes during shutdown because they live on federal land

Yes, from the same man's administration who took the Amber Alert website offline (before later restoring after public outcry), while Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' website remained untouched, we witness even more unsettling political games of the sadistic variety. Here's what this president is capable of...

So, are the Indian reservations or the federal highway system next?

RUSH: GOP is actually winning the Obamacare fight as Obama supporters discover the truth

Despite the GOP donor class defeatism, despite the crock that Obama professes to be willing to negotiate, and all to the chagrin of the media no doubt, the party in power can't seem to escape the truth of the matter as we enter week two of the partial government shutdown.

Rush uses a couple of 'floored' Obama supporters, who recently discovered that their health insurance was skyrocketing under Obamacare, to illustrate the fact that the GOP is actually winning the argument, while Obama and Democrats are losing the debate because they're the ones refusing to compromise, it is they who will not negotiate...
SanJoseMercuryNews: Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.

Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.

Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four.
Few winners...LOTS of losers. Welcome to the statist utopia. And these folks fell for it.

'So freakin' excited' about paying MORE for health insurance

You really can't fix stupid...
TheBlaze: Chad Henderson is a 21-year-old Chattanooga State University student who works part-time at a day-care facility and had been without health insurance for the last 14 years.

So when the opportunity to sign up for Obamacare came Oct. 1, Henderson jumped on it. The whole process took him about three hours and ended at 3 a.m., but he got what he was looking for.

So what’s his monthly premium? Henderson, who reportedly earns $11,500 annually, will pay $175 per month under Obamacare, about 18% of his yearly income.

“It was a little more than I was expecting,” he tells the Washington Post. “I like the doctor benefits, but I would have really liked a plan that includes dental and vision, since I have contacts. That kind of stuff I would have preferred.”

Henderson likely could have received health insurance for as little as $44.72 on eHealthInsurance.com before Obamacare, according to Michael F. Cannon of the Cato Institute. And with Obamacare’s community-rating price controls that take effect in 2014, Henderson’s cheapest plan option on eHealthInsurance jumped up to $190.23.

“So it appears that Obamacare quadrupled Chad’s premiums, and Enroll America thinks this is a success story,” Cannon said.
There's also a side story to this, which goes a long way in explaining why the media are flocking to this kid...
Turns out that Henderson is a big-time supporter of President Obama who wants to see Obamacare succeed. He’s an Organizing for Action volunteer, which means he helped elect Obama and works “to continue his agenda,” and also served as president of the Walker County Young Democrats and executive director of High School Democrats of Georgia, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Shocker.

Back room deals in Congress may give Obama immigration reform without border security measures

In the midst of any situation or calamity going on these days in Washington, there's always something being cooked up in the back rooms...and it's usually up to no good...
TheBlaze: Back room deals are underway in the House of Representatives to advance a number of immigration bills to the Senate before the end of October. But a growing number of lawmakers and border security experts say passing any bill now may derail efforts to get border security measures enacted.

Why? Because it will open the door for closed-door “conference” negotiations that are expected to focus on amnesty for nearly 11 million illegal immigrants and gut or weaken border security measures.

How? It all comes down to timing.

Five separate immigration-related bills are progressing through the Republican-controlled House, with only one addressing border security, and some lawmakers fear that they may be bundled into a package that will face off against the Democrat-controlled Senate’s versions. Critics such as Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) expect such a face-off to lead to a compromise that could strip out the border provisions to make it more likely to be signed into law by President Barack Obama.

“The public and Republican members need to understand that going to conference with the Senate will bring about a similar ‘Gang of Eight’ bill that rejects real border security measures,” said King. “Doing business with the president is not going to give us anything that we like. He’s completely untrustworthy on this and there’s no merit to the House taking up anything because nothing good can get to the president’s desk that he’ll put his signature on.”

King, vice-chair of the House Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, told TheBlaze he will do all he can to inform the American public and members of his party that taking any immigration bill to the Senate at this point could lead to a failure for a comprehensive immigration reform package.
This administration lives by its creed: never let a crisis go to waste...particularly when it comes to beefing up their potential voter base through legal means or otherwise.

Levin discusses Obama's 'Plan B' for debt ceiling, Boehner spooked already

'Default' seems to be the tip-off word for Obama's next step, well beyond a mere shutdown. Levin has alluded to the plan before, but further expands on what Obama has in store for thwarting the Constitution when it comes to the swiftly approaching debt ceiling battle...
On Thursday's Mark Levin Show: President Obama is...gearing up to go after the 14th Amendment, to go after the power of the purse that the House controls. He wants to use the Continuing Resolution as a pretext and then go after the Republicans further with the debt ceiling. If the Republicans don't capitulate and give in, he will bypass the 14th Amendment and unilaterally do what he wants. We are now seeing the whole plan - Mark discusses how this is about the transformation of the Constitution, which is why Obama won't negotiate with the House or the Senate. Obama is going after all of us in a destructive manner that can't work.
Obama's Plan B is being encouraged by the political left both on Capitol Hill and in academia, contrary to what the Congressional Research Service already made clear about the invalidity of such unilateral action. Yet already, he seems to have spooked Boehner on this upcoming fight...
NYTimes: Speaker John A. Boehner has privately told Republican lawmakers anxious about fallout from the government shutdown that he would not allow a potentially more crippling federal default as the atmosphere on Capitol Hill turned increasingly tense on Thursday.

Mr. Boehner’s comments, recounted by multiple lawmakers, that he would use a combination of Republican and Democratic votes to increase the federal debt limit if necessary appeared aimed at reassuring his colleagues — and nervous financial markets — that he did not intend to let the economic crisis spiral further out of control.
Certainly Obama doesn't want it pointed out that Democrats have fought debt ceiling hikes many times, fervently including himself...but I guess Boehner has somehow forgotten about this historical nugget.

Rush says Democrats are 'imploding' and 'off the rails'

Toning down the rhetoric? For Democrats, hardly. Rush voiced his thoughts on Obama talking down the economy yesterday in the ongoing government shutdown and quickly approaching default deadline. And it's Rush's opinion that this is not playing out the way Democrats had hoped...

"I’ve been searching my memory, and I’ve asked some people and nobody can remember, nor can I, a time — maybe Jimmy Carter, but then he didn’t mean to… I do not remember a president of the United States talking down the stock market and the world economy like Obama did. It is unprecedented. It’s in an interview with CNBC, John Harwood. Obama warned the world markets that it cannot be taken for granted that the Congress would be able to raise the debt limit before the October 17th deadline so that the US doesn’t default. I kid you not. And then he said that he thought world markets should be concerned.

Now, is that what he means by toning down or keeping down his rhetoric? I really think, folks, this is unprecedented. No previous US president has ever tried to talk down the economy like that. Now, the Democrats, as a party, did so during the last three, maybe four years of the Bush administration, but they were trying to create an image in people’s minds. They wanted people to think that we were in a recession. They wanted voters to think that Bush’s economic policies were creating havoc. But that’s different. Those were random, independent voices from people who are either one of 535 members or one of 100 members of the bodies, Senate or House. But this is the president.

I can’t remember a previous president ever trying to talk down the economy like this. If anything, in Obama’s situation, they would be talking about how the country would never let a default happen. But he’s out there warning the world that it could. I’ll tell you what this is, all of it, everything. I get so blue in the face. Everything Obama and the Democrats do is political and has an agenda, is part of the agenda, and the agenda right now is destroy the Republicans, the Tea Party. And I think — I could be wrong about this — I think the Democrats are imploding. I think they’re getting batty. I think they’re going nuts. This is not playing out the way they thought."

Levin's stern warning for Obama: 'You lay one hand on WW2 vets and I’LL BRING HALF A MILLION PEOPLE TO THAT MEMORIAL!' (UPDATE)

I've got more to say about this one, but for now, here's the latest target of Obama's ire in this so-called 'government shutdown'...
NYP: Tourists travelling to Omaha Beach to pay their respects to the 9,387 military dead at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial will find it closed, a victim of the U.S. government’s partial shutdown.

The site overlooking the D-Day invasion beaches is one of 24 U.S. military cemeteries overseas that have closed to visitors since Monday. Ten more cemeteries in in France, as well as others in various European countries as well as Mexico, Panama, Tunisia and the Philippines, will remain closed for the duration of the shutdown.

The cemeteries are maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission, set up after the First World War. Nearly 125,000 U.S. servicemen and women are buried at its cemeteries, and an additional 94,000 are commemorated on tablets of the missing.
And here's Levin's EPIC response to such ire:

"I want to say this loud and clear to the people on Capitol Hill who are listening, to this administration. You lay one damn hand on one of those World War II vets at that memorial and I’ll bring half a million people to that damn memorial! You got that?!

I’m sitting here stewing thinking about this – playing these damn games? You’ll ignite a movement in this country like you’ve never seen before! The biker patriot army – veterans from all over the country, every single war and battle in this country, Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever!

I’ll be damned if one president, with his feet up on the desk in the oval office, with a smirk on his face, looking at his golf card…I’ll be damned if this president or anybody else is going to shut down that WWII memorial. Period! These men are in their 80s and 90s.

So let me repeat! You lay one hand on one of those men and arrest them for going to their memorial, which they fought for, which was not paid by you dammit, it was paid by the American people – we will come out of every town and city in this nation! We will come out of every county. And both coasts! Both borders! And we will march on Washington against your tyranny!

You’ve been warned!"
Not to mention, it costs the government more to shut down parks and memorials than it costs to leave them alone...many of which are privately owned, including this one, and shouldn't be touched by the government anyway!

UPDATE: Citizen activism has prompted a 'change of heart'...or a swift boot in tha...
WaPo: At Marion Park on Capitol Hill, two fence gates were chained closed, but one was not, and a group of children played inside.

At the Korean War Veterans Memorial, on the Mall, the entrance was blocked with barricades, but visitors just walked around the barriers and entered.

At the closed-off National World War II Memorial, two days of assaults by veterans prompted the National Park Service to announce that they had the legal right to be there and would not be barred in the future.

Across federal Washington on Wednesday, the government shutdown was leaking badly — partly as a result of citizen contrarians, war veterans, politicians and the difficulty of enforcement by the National Park Service.

Need health care coverage? Just dial 1-800-F**KYO!

This is too intentional to be coincidence...
TheDC: Need health insurance? The Obama administration has you covered. Simply dial 1-800-FUCKYO to reach the next available health-care provider.

Far from being a mistype, that’s the official number that Health and Human Services wants Americans to dial when seeking health care. Obamacare’s national call center really did list its number as 1-800-318-2596, helpfully spelling out President Barack Obama’s tendency to blatantly flip the bird in plain view.

After allowing for the lack of letters attached to 1 on a traditional American telephone keypad, the number spells out a clear message. For every duped voter, every young invincible weighing the cost of a penalty versus a newly tripled yearly deductible, every ailing old granny in a wheelchair (whom, remember, Paul Ryan wants to push off a cliff) who needs adequate and affordable health care, Obama’s message is:
1-800-3(F) 8(U) 2(C) 5(K) 9(Y) 6(O).
That’s 1-800-FUCKYO. Sadly, the Obama administration failed to swap the useless 1 for a more functional 8 to complete the heartfelt message, perhaps in consolation to former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s tragically shortened middle finger.
Meanwhile...enrollment into Obamacare has turned out to be an EPIC FAIL! Here's a few reports...

In California, not a single person enrolled:

In Texas, a Politico healthcare reporter can’t find anyone in Texas who's signed up for O'care (H/t: Twitchy).

And in Maryland, less than 100 people have signed up for the unAffordable noHealthcare Act:
Delmarvanow: As Maryland’s new online marketplace for health insurance continues to have trouble handling a deluge of requests to set up accounts, state health officials are exploring alternative ways to create those accounts, the state’s health secretary said Wednesday.

Dr. Joshua Sharfstein said tens of thousands have visited the site but fewer than 100 people so far have actually enrolled in a health plan through Maryland Health Connection.

Levin puts 'shutdown' in perspective

"This is what happens when you have a President like this, who plays chicken with the nation...but we can't simply capitulate to it!" ~ Mark Levin
Mark Levin opened last night's program with an epic monologue that puts this whole government shutdown fiasco into perspective (H/t: FoxNation)...

Mark goes on to iterate an integral reason why Republicans must keep fighting (H/t: theRightScoop)...
“Imagine the power the government would have today – let’s pretend it’s ten years from now and Obamacare is fully in place and there’s a legitimate fight over spending and taxing…and there’s a government shutdown… Do you know what a president like Obama would do?

He’d start cutting off your health care to force you to capitulate to his demands. Oh yes! They’d start shutting down hospitals, refusing to pay doctors and nurses, refusing to approve prescriptions. Because that’s where we’re headed, to the complete iron-fisted control of our health care. Can you imagine the kind of power they’d have over us then?

It’s certainly one of the reasons we must resist now.”
Also, here's Mark attempting to explain the unexplainable...

So please remember, "We don't live under Barack Obama! We live under a Constitutional Republic, not Barack Obama!"
